Put on protective gear before you touch an egg (and a nose plug)!

Ah Kathy she is beautimus...she would have been perfect for Thor...I would have had to steal her if my boy were still with me.

You should be proud of your boys...they are really looking great.

Well I am dressed and ready to wash chickens.

Sarah had to work late so no coon hunting for us, instead I volunteered Cheyenne and I to wash the teenagers for the swap tomorrow.

Yes, they would have made some big ol beautiful babies, that's for sure!

I wish I could take credit for them, but I can't. All I did was hatch the eggs they came in! They are from my Claudia and Cyn's hatch.

Oh man, a couple of my older girls could use a bath, too! Funny how some of the girls stay cleaner than others. The younger girls are still quite white. I am sure it has something to do with the fact that they don't have roosters jumping on their backs all the time. HOWEVER, today (first time) I saw the guy pictured above mate with one of the older Dellie girls. It appeared he made the connection without a problem.

Hello again! I got the name of the line, Bill Bradens. Has anyone heard of It? The chicks are HUGE! They are looking really good as far as I can tell. Thanks for the info!

Yup- we have heard of Bill Braden- you should get some very nice Dels! Cynthia can tell you more-

Cyn- well, that's how it goes- that's OK -we'll see what pops out of the little egg. Considering everything, I will be just as happy for Cetawin if it's a little blue roo instead of the splash pullet I am wishing for.

I just checked on Harriet, and I don't hear anything. Considering I have not done this before, I am not sure WHEN I should start hearing or seeing anything- sometime tomorrow, right? Day 21? She has not moved off the nest in at least three days.

Kathy- I have a plastic jacket and gloves out in the barn, just in case!!! I do know one of them is a dud, she is on one of Hermione's (my other BSL that free ranges) but I couldn't tell the difference between it and Cora's, so I left it.

Can anyone tell me what they will look like if they end up being Ultrasuede's chicks?

If I'd know anyone was washing chickens, I would have sent them my beautiful BEIGE Delawares - they trot around in the rain, then go under the coop and roll around. Bleah.

Kathy- if the other boy is anything like this one, I will be in seventh heaven!

I have 5 pullets from eggs I hatched from Bill Braden. He was great to order from, very helpful and eager to fill the request. The chicks all look very nice. They'll be 2 months old on the 21st and have all feathered in and are filling out now. I think they're gorgeous.

Their color is very even, light barring in the hackles (which I've come to expect out of younger Del girls) with beautiful black tail feathers. I can't wait to see how they mature!

It should be any time now!

I was wondering about that, too. Cyn, have you ever hatched any Blue Orp over Delaware eggs? I guess you could post that question on another thread, and the genetics experts could tell you.
edited to add .... I posted the question here ...

I think he is quite good, as well. I don't know which one I like the best yet. I will get his pictures tomorrow.

Jeremy,
We need some pictures from you! Update us!

Kathy, both of those boys are just drop dead gorgeous! You have every right to be proud as punch about them!!

Dellies are definitely in my future, along with BLRW at some point. I just don't know when that is going to be! I still have to find good homes for Brutus [that right there is such a sad thought it could easily break my heart!]CB and Little Red. Cetawin, I wish you were in the market for a 4 and a half month old mutt roo. Brutus and CB are both such wonderful little guys! Brutus is the lover and CB is the little Napoleon clown! He's a small boy you see. But just like a small dog, he has no concept of his own small stature!

Oh yeah, that reminds me.....Kathy, that 18 week old boy?

Just go ahead and pack his little suit case and send him up here! He'd probably welcome the change in temperatures and humidity levels!

That young man has a downright regal bearing! Can we say "Royalty eat your heart out?"
lol.png

Yes, some day I shall just have to fire up the bator and try my hand at Delaware eggs. Here's hoping some of you ladies will be in an "enabling" mood when that day comes!
