Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Hoping that you get eggs from them soon.

Onto the Leghorn-ish Dels, I can totally see that now! I did notice how they were a little slender. Sorry about that.

Brandon, wow! Those are just gorgeous! Thank you so much for the pics.

I have noticed that with Delaware pullets, some have little short stubby combs and others are pretty large. Explanations?

Jeremy, if you ever want to do that, and split the order, let me know.

To everyone else who replied on this subject, I want to express my thanks!

You all have saved me from making a costly mistake and I truly appreciate it! I will tell her no thanks and wait for something better.

The seller is someone who shows and wins. I've searched for her name on BYC and it comes up quite a few times. I wonder if she knows how bad the Dels are? She's advertising eggs on Craigslist for $25 doz. as Braden line eggs. Gosh, buyer beware!

You all are wonderful!
Kim

Kim, I don't have the room to keep any of the potential chicks but I would certainly incubate a batch for you. I just got a fancy new incubator so I'm excited and want to get to cookin'! LOL.

You should contact Bill and place an order, my bator will be empty again by the end of March.

Tricia,

That is so weird . . . It is amazing that you were able to save her. It is incredible that you were able to sew her head on by yourself. . .
The whole event is shocking. . . . That girl has earned the right to live with you FOREVER!

The girls are amazing!! They've all got terrific shape, width and I think they will fill out nicely with a good bowl shape!

The boys... they are ALLLLL legs!!! They are in that awkward gangly teenager stage right now. Snuggles has some really good shape to him, wide skull, good width in the chest back and abdomen

#3.. the one in front of the Production RIR? I'll get him banded this evenin.

Most of em have nice triangle tails as well... even the boys.

Yes, the one in front of the RIR.

I forgot their age. Yes, they still have some filling out to do. The one with the wonky wing though .... I don't know that that will get any better. Thanks for the updated pictures! I am anxious to see how they all turn out!

My Dels got to free range for the first time today, and they should be able to all week. The boy from the bunch, Jay, should move out to his new home in SC this weekend.

Photobucket is being slow, so I will post pics when I can.

She was very lucky!! I didn't have any suture kits here so I used a sewing needle and thread. I have since gone out and purchased 5 suture kits in case the need ever comes up again. I did have a Turken about a month later who got a gash in her neck from the toe nail of another chicken and used my suture kit to sew her up. It was only about 4 stitches and she healed up without further incident. The kids named her Frankie - short for Frankenstein

I thought for sure I was going to lose her

We were planning to build the giant new coop out of our leftover wood, LOL! This is just enough for the poop boards.

The chicks- I love their "worm wars". I kept having to rescue Luna (kind of a runt/slow grower from the hatch) to the picnic table for her to eat her's.

Here is Biscuit. Luna thinks that he is a nice, squishy roost.
