Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I think she's gone broody. One of my Western NY girls is in the nest. I chased one of them off the nest last night and today there was one in the nest and she pecked my hand so I backed off thinking she may be trying to lay and egg. Well tonight there she was still, so I felt to see if she even had an egg and she did. So I removed the wooden egg and left the other. After I got done changing the straw in the nests and filling the feeders I went to check to see if she would do anything and she gave me a good peck. So we shall see. I do have a place to move her and hope to only hatch Delawares.
I'm not sure of her age except that I've had her for one year so she may be two. I do know that some breeds don't go broody til they are two or three years old. Does anyone know if this is the case with Delawares?

I've had two CM's and a bantam Friz and a BO all hatchery girls go broody this past early spring. Oh and a Dominique last fall. All are hatchery girls.

Delawares are like Jello, there always room for Delawares.

Just so you guys can see...you cannot see the nasty bite mark on the back of his head...but this is how Severus' comb looked today after Thor attacked him...There is a good size chunk of the back blade gone...not that he has a true blade because of his mixed comb but...

Here are pics from today including many of my precious boy Thor

Ultrasuede says he wants a first edition, autographed by Thor. As family, he feels he deserves one, and will send blueberry pancakes as payment.

I am going to try to get some pics today, but DH still has all his FL pics on there, so I will have to wade through everything. . . . this picture business takes a lot of time. Lizzie is better and better every day and I think will be ready to go back with her pals maybe this weekend? If I thought Luke would leave her alone I would have done it last week, when we had a "visit", but he flattened her, and I want to make sure she can deal with his weight. Although, you know what? I think Ultrasuede is top roo. He kicks butt on Luke in the mornings, and actually has been seen mating more of the girls than Luke, and the hens like him better. I wonder how much trouble I will have when I move Ultrasuede in with his girls- ????

I'm so darn jealous. I want my own BBS Orp roo. If anyone has eggs available please let me know. I love to make blueberry pancakes!

On the Del front, I have 2 broody Dels from S&G poultry. Both girls have been sitting on nests for a few days now. It will be interesting to see if they stick with it.
I had planned on taking pics today of some of the chicks I have hatched out, but it is overcast on gloomy.

You are too far away or I would give you a 12 week old splash orp. roo. I have the Grandson of Suede. He really needs a home. gloria Jean

They are not even a year old. They were purchased last August as day old chicks. They are in my mixed layer flock so I did not really wantthem to go broody. That cuts down on egg production. Added incovenience is that they are in a hoop house not a coop.

Zephrycreek - you will need to take the "Pledge" in order for a Big ole bbs Roo to find you... repeat after me

I solemnly swear that Suede is perfect and that should I find a way to get a son or grandson of his, I promise to love it, protect it and cook for it...and tell him he too is perfect

I know Cyn has 2 of his babies right now...1 is guaranteed a boy and the black is most likely a boy....only one girl for me in that bunch.

Since these girls are not hatchery I'm excited to see her go broody. As far as I know they aren't. Look nothing like the two hatchery girls one of who is laying "pink" eggs. Once I get a couple more hens from this line the hatchery girls are going. Though it is nice to have "pink" eggs in the carton. Unless I can figure out which it is and then tag her.
