Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

My Sandhill Del roosters are off to the processor in a few minutes. They are coming up on 20 weeks old. I weighed the biggest one last night and he weighed 5 lbs. After all this time and feed I doubt if I will ever do that again.

Har, I am not sure dual purpose birds are supposed to be "fast" as far as getting them processed - the man that did mine at about the same age said they needed about 4 more weeks. I haven't quite got this figured out myself, though, so I could be very wrong.

I really like the variety in coloring of the eggs from my Delawares. Do you all get a variety like this, too?

Actually my girls have jsut started laying but yes i seem to get the same variety you do! One lays more darker brown - pinkish - the other lighter brown with speckles it seems with varying degrees within that ...pretty cool - as a matter of fact? Tonights dinner- first omelette from my girls WOOHOO!

Kathy, yes and I love it. Speckles, peach, tan, light brown -

Inkheart, bet that was the best meal you ever had!! There is nothing like eating those first eggs, it's a great feeling of satisfaction.
