Show Off Your Silkies!!!

Me and my cuddly marshmallow of a rooster, Rooroo. :)

Apparently our council doesn't permit roosters due to noise pollution and such, but no-one (other than the council) in the whole 5-6 months I have kept him, have complained about him as we let him out later in the morning when people are awake, and the neighbors often crow back to him when he does crow outside.

We have had council workers come over and whine about him, asking how long I had him and such and telling me it is in my tenet agreement, but... There is no mention of chickens or roosters in it, and apparently the council really can't do anything unless people who live nearby complain about him. :p

This is Butter and Cream, two of my oldest silkies yet! They are so sweet!View attachment 1087603 View attachment 1087604

I'd love to hatch out some 'Alpaca Silkies' if given a chance. :) They are just soooo fluffy, but I worry my bare-faced Silkies may get too rough on them.

he is so cute! Thats great u can keep the sweetie!
He is super adorable and I am happy that I can keep him! He is probably the most docile rooster I know, unless you threaten his flock, the most he'll do is whine at you and give you puppy dog eyes for treats. :p

I have a question. I just recently got into silkies and have 20. 4 of them look they are turning into roosters. Now they were all raised together, has anyone ever successfully kept this Manny roosters together? They are all still young, under 4 months, but I'm worried from everything I have read that they will kill each other eventually. Could they possibly all be ok or will I for sure have to come up with a bachelor pad?

There are many people who keep roos together. I am one of them. Most Silkies are quite docile and live together fine most of the time especially if brought up together. You do have some at times that are more aggressive and will fight. There will be an Alpha roo and the rest will be subservient. You will need to keep an eye open for anything severe that breaks out in there pin. These three are roos and get along fine.

That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you for your reply. How many hens do you keep with your 3 roos? I have a back up coop/ run I could use just in case mine don't get along and I need to seperate some, however, I'd absolutely love to keep them all together as that would minimize time/ work to have another coop to take care of.
