  • 1 gallon can of drained/rinsed Great Northern Beans
  • Tomato sauce
  • tomato paste
  • onions
  • jalapeno juice
  • molasses
  • light brown sugar
  • dash of Texas Pete hot sauce
  • 4 oz of Jack Daniels
  • 2# of cross cut home made bacon chunks
Started the crock pot on low at 8 PM yesterday. Still simmering at the time of this post (11:15 AM).
It will be portioned and placed in the freezer for random meal side dishes. The kitchen smells so yummy right now...

Butter here is approximately $5 for one pound.
Hydrogenated margarine can be purchased for $2.89 on sale for TWO pounds.
Not many people use butter on a full time basis here that I know of.

Last year around this time, Kroger had their LOL butter on sale for $1.99lb. DH thought I was CRAZY for buying.... 110 pounds. We're still working through it! :p

Cool! :thumbsup I'm gonna check that out. I've had an irrational fear of pressure cookers since I was a little kid... I know, stupid & inexplicable... I guess that's why they call it 'irrational'

I’ve never actually used a pressure cooker myself until now. We had one growing up, but I never liked them either. The nice thing is that there are so many blogs and recipes devoted to the instant pot (and similar) that it’s almost too easy to use. I couldn’t believe how easy it’s been. So far I’ve made two different types of chicken, rice, and hard boiled eggs. The first time I tried a chicken recipe the chicken started Frozen. It turned out great. I often forget to take out meat from the freezer and so this will come in handy for me. You can also use the older model pressure cookers if you have one to make the these meals, but I don’t know if there is any adjustments that need to be made.
