You do not brown them first and then bake them?

There must be a different in the time in the oven and or temperature

I browned them and then simmered them in the sauce for 30 minutes. That is what Joe said to do on Master Chef

I don't brown mine ahead of baking either. I leave them in the oven until they are completely baked through. Then when I use them in pasta dishes, pizza, sandwiches, etc. they get heated up.

Without a dishwasher for the past 3+ years, I don't dirty any more pans & dishes than I absolutely have to!

I’m considering a countertop model. I wish I had a big freestanding one, but that’s another story.

I use cast iron and have to clean and then season it. The DW cannot lift the cast iron anymore and as I get older, I will likely not be able to use it then either.

I love the taste that browning in cast iron gives food!

I use my dishwasher every day usually. 3 dogs is 6 bowls and that's the top rack. Bottom rack is plates, glasses and coffee cups plus miscellaneous. I scrape dinner dishes rather than rinse. Pots and pans done by hand but those are usually every other day at most.
@ronott1 smaller pieces of cast iron are available...I still have a big skillet but I rarely use it these days.

Thanks!

I have a big and medium one. I might have a smaller one that I need to look for. It is a good size for making a two person serving of fried potatoes

I have 1 medium and 1 small frying pan and a small enamel coated cast iron dutch oven. Perfect size for 2 people for most of our meals.
