Silkie Sexing Project 2.0

I would have let it go, but you're already keeping such detailed records, I figured you'd want them to be 100% accurate ... and I figured if this mixed up order affected my values, it likely affected others.

Oh I'm not mad or nothing. I'm just frustrated that I messed up like that, haaaaaaaa. My inner perfectionist is pitching a fit.

Okay I have your guesses for round 2 as the following, with answers counted as correct in green and incorrect in red:

RBf - F (not part of the count)
RWt - M
RBk - No guess
RBu - M
RSp - No guess

PBf - M
PWt - F
PBk - F
PBu - F
PSp - M

OBf- M
OWt-M
OBk- F
OBu- F
OSp- F

GBf- M
GWt- M
GBk- F
GBu- F
GSp- F

BBf- F
BWt- M
BBk- F
BBu- M
BSp- F

12 correct, 12 incorrect, so 12/24; which is 50% for my data purposes. In your table you have it as 13/22 for 59%. I listed non guesses as incorrect so that I could use the same formulas across the board without correcting to a smaller count. Let me know if any of that doesn't jive with what you got cause I've double and triple checked and can't find any more issues.

Love seeing the results!!! :wee:celebrate

Thank you so much for the trophy and ribbon (I'm honored to have placed as high as I did, probably a lot of luck)! This has been such a fun experiment to follow along with, so interesting seeing how everyone's guesses lined up (plus who doesn't like seeing adorable little fluffballs grow up week by week)! I can't wait to see how the weighing data turns out too! :D

I'm with everyone else who replied recently......this is a tough one I keep going back and forth! I'd keep him/her a little longer too. :)

Leaning towards female on these two so far for all the weeks. Very cute little frizzled babies! I think you're probably right about them being a partridge and a grey, they sure are cute! 🥰

50% is right ... that's where I had the actual gender for RBk and RBu flip-flopped, so I gave my self 2 points instead of 2 dings.

I'm also anxious to see how the weigh-ins/measurements match up to the gender reveal!

I'm working on it. It's a lot of data to crunch. The main thing that's taking me so long is setting it up so that it's easy for people to digest -- I doubt most people are gonna get much out of a bunch of huge tables full of numbers without much visual context.

Thank you for the reply!!! Hoping for both hens! ♥️♥️ They are so tiny I’m afraid I’ll break them. 😬😬 They are 81g & 85g which seems a little small for 3.5 weeks.

Also as much as I love this project, I still have other work to do! Darn being an adult with adult responsibilities!
Ha! My youngest child & I are sitting in the chick nursery run with momma & the chicks... she looks at me and says, “Mom, this is why we never get projects finished.” 🤣 I had just stopped working in my blueberry bed to come watch the chickens. (I ripped out old mulch & weeded, but hadn’t put new mulch down yet! I took the weeds & broken down mulch to the chicken run... and got distracted... for an hour!)

I’ll probably wait until 5 weeks to post a thread asking for guesses on my chicks, but I’ll post a chick collage for fun! Based on combs, poofs, & attitude (alert chirps vs quiet), I think the white showgirl, dark serama, & black Silkie are my girls. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’d be thrilled with 1 girl of each type! (We have 3 Silkies, 2 Showgirls, & 2 Serama—individual photos are in that order by row.)

Looking forward to the final data & charts whenever you have the time to complete it. Good job adulting better than me! 😂

edit to add: I did make a carpet covered ramp to enable the teeny chicks to get back up into the coop in that hour! 🙌🏼
