HELP! One of my silkies is limping. She's eating/drinking fine. Lola is 2 months old. What could be wrong? Is there anything I should be doing?

Yes, I have that problem too. The chicks are so much tamer when I raise them in the brooder. She is very friendly, in my short experience my 4 Silkie mommas have been very friendly...the only issue I have had is with a hen that twice walked away from her eggs and concentrated in getting into the pen where the chicks were. She laid there and wouldn't move at all, if I fed her she would call them, hoping they would come and accept her as their new mom. Every time she sees the chicks she tries to steal them for herself.
One thing I did notice is, this group of chicks is not as friendly as my previous groups, the hen normally is skittish, so not sure if she is transmitting that into them, but I have a hard time picking them up without getting the whole neighborhood wondering who is getting killed, they get loud.

SOS-- this is gorgeous!! Great job! What program are you using? Corel is my favorite design program. What tool did you use for the lighter/smudged work? Love it!
I think your roo is really quite nice, I'm not sure what the judge was saying. It's really too bad you didn't ask him. We've always talked to the judges after the show is over and talk about pointers and what he wants to see. It is a GREAT idea to do that, so please do that on your next show. I didn't really see his comb well-- is it too red?? It looks mulberry from what I can see, but perhaps the judge thought it was too red?? I think the foot feathering is also really nice-- but does he have fused toes on the right side? Those look closer together than on the left. There could be a lot of things that added up to that critique. His cushion could be a bit fuller.. but still, not bad. And I can't really see his chest to know if it's nice and wide... I really think he looks fine, but like mentioned before, white has super tough competition since there are so many fantastic birds out there in that color. I just really wish we knew what the judge was trying to tell you. Next time!! Ask, then! (after the show, of course)
Oh no, I'm sooooo sorry!Poor little thing, that sounds terrible.![]()
What is muesli??A tip to make your chicks like you moregive them 1 time a week yoghurt with muesli !! It is healthy and they like it soooo much they will run towards you when they see you coming with it ;-)
Quote: If I am thinking of the right thing, it's cereal. A high fiber, multi-grain cereal?
Quote: I have heard that many times. That broody raised chicks are much more unfriendly and skittish than human(brooder) raised chicks.
My little 6 wk old babies got caught in the rain. Thankfully I was not gone long. You would think they would go inside the coop, but the older ones did not and they follow them, so I came home to some drowned chickies. I grabbed three of my 4 silkies (the other was not shivering and drying herself off) and took them inside to blow dry them out (low heat). They acted like they were at a spa...they loved it. Anyway they came out nice and fluffy, so I thought it would be a good time for some pictures. I would love some opinions on their sex. I know it is too early, but I see differences in their combs so my thinking is I have one of each?
So here is Butter on the left and Popcorn on the right ( I think. I cant tell since they are fluffled out...lol)
