Silky hatch-along and OdoBan on eggs experiment

That might work 🤣 I actually ended up trading one of my bikes that I didn't ride much for an older bike that is gorgeous, and as we were heading home he was lamenting on how I bought his dream bike... I'm thinking I'm going to give it to him for his bday this year, he's going to be so excited! We share everything, he already is the one who rides this bike, my hands aren't strong enough to pull the clutch, but he still respects it as my bike, if it was his he would add fishtail exhaust and a few other stylistic things. That might be the right time to slip the new incubator in 🤣
Did you see my reply to one of those new members to have his wife buy a motorcycle? That's backward, but this friend of mine in town gets anything she wants because he gets the new motorcycle every year. She had him build her two coops, one for meat birds and one for pretty yard ornaments she's coming over here this spring to get.

I did see it, it cracked me up! Yep, sounds about right 🤣 hubby doesn't tell me no to much, and I don't say no to him much, as long as we're able to pay the bills and we're being somewhat responsible adults, neither of us are promised we'll make it to retirement, so we need to enjoy what we can, while we can, as long as we are still maintaining what we need for retirement as well.

Everyone should have a pretty yard ornament coop! That's awesome she'll be getting some sikkies from you!

And that 120 egg incubator, ooh-la-la :celebrate:eek: wait, why would I need to set 120 eggs? Yeah, the 60 would probably be perfect. I got my 56 Advance used so quite a but less than new, but I am missing the auto humidity control.
I can't justify needing any more than the two I have. But oh wouldn't one of those cabinet types be nice. In the 120, we could do like 30 each week and keep it rotating!

What kind of trays do you use? I'm going to do that for this next hatch, I purchased plastic canvas and I'm going to cut dividers and zip tie them together. I figured with plastic I can sterilize it and re-use them.

I started penciling in my breeding pens for July, a lot all can change still as I don't know who all my girls are or what cockerel is going to mature into the best birds, but I may end up with 6 or 7 different pairings, which actually sounds like a really bad idea 🤣 two or three sounds more manageable.
I haven't been using anything to separate them. They get figured out as best I can from their looks later on. With what I've been hatching there are a lot of crossbred mutts. Once I'm done with runs and don't free range I can hatch one breed at a time I can set and hatch 41 eggs a week now using 4 41 egg incubators. That is enough to keep me in a state of confusion.

You don't buy a 120 to set 120 every 3 weeks. You buy one to set 30 evey week and then hatch 30 each week in the Brinsea for a total of 120 a month. This method requires so many fewer hens. Cost savings in the long run. Math but sort of not bad as chicken math.
