LAST NIGHT--- Well, here are some pics of bedtime in the coop
My Reds in their safe place, 2 protesting white leghorns, they don't want to sleep by the browns,

And all the ones that have worked it all out

Two nights ago at lockup, I pulled the pullets out of the nesting boxes where they thought they were going to sleep. I thought I'd broken them of that; they had been sleeping in a cuddle huddle in the corner.

So yesterday I put a board up to block the nests. One of the birds was staring at it at lockup, and I swear she was thinking, "What's this? It wasn't here last night!"

Greeting porchers!

I was making some chicken broth today and noticed something “meaty” fly by my window and perch in a nearby tree.
Yep..it was a hawk that has discovered my ladies!😱. I saw him a couple of weeks ago on the camera dive bomb toward the coop and abort once he realized that there is black coated HC!! Score one for the girls! It looked like he bounced off the wire but likely was able to make a swift turn and not get his clock cleaned.

well I think he’s trying to figure out another entry. Only way he’s getting into they run is if he chews through the 1/2” HC. Not happening!

they are beautiful creatures, but not when hunting my girls.

thought I would share. Hope you’re having a nice day.

Keep a close ear, if you hear the hen do the warning cry, hoof it out there
