It’s true. I fully put ALL blame on owners. A mature decision to get a dog is to choose a breed that fits your lifestyle. A well disciplined dog of any breed is a joy! They are good, unless you get mauled and killed by one. They are the second deadliest breed:
Summary: In the 13-year period of January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2017, canines killed at least 433 Americans. Pit bulls contributed to 66% of these deaths. Rottweilers, the second leading canine killer, inflicted 10% of attacks that resulted in human death. Combined, two dog breeds accounted for 76% of the total recorded deaths.
So its not unfounded, and yes people share the blame. I have met some great pits, I would not have one around my kids though. Once a long time ago a friend needed a place for her rot to stay a month, I was willing and she brought him over to meet us. During the meeting he bit me in the face, not a hard bite but a I am the boss here hard nip. No, sorry I am. He did not stay.

My leghorn is 2 and she still wont let me near her!! Oh and chickens drown... I had one drown when it fell into the alpaca water.. Heartbreaking...
There’s good and bad in everything.Tell that to the 43 people killed in the years the data was collected. And we can put some of the blame on the people who were killed, I remember reading about a guy who jumped a fence into a yard and was killed by two rots. So there is no doubt they can be dangerous though. Blanket statements are never true, All pits are bad, trump supporters are racist, immigrants are a threat. None of those statements are 100% true.
