She fell in the pool one hot summer day and was floating around. So since she wasn't panicking, neither did I. I got my phone and snapped a photo before I took her out.
I did have a leghorn fall in the pool in October and die before I could get to her. I believe hypothermia was involved as she was still floating when I was able to get to her. It took no time at all. It was devastating.
When we get new chicks, I keep them in the house, I pick them up, like new puppies. I talk to them and like this last flock, I put them out in the coo at 2 weeks.My leghorns (all my chickens,really, but especially my leghorns) aren’t that friendly. They come over by me, but as soon as I put my hand out they run.
We call my trio of white leghorns the crazy white ladies
I thought it was so stinking cute, Right out of the gate, they sat , I call it " Porch sit'n" When it's late in the evening and The Girls are out on the stoopLooks like the know their place in the world, on the roost![]()
