Good Wednesday morning,
All is well. We had just a bit of wind lights flickered a lot Sunday pm through yesterday but over all no problems. Just the Hood Canal is was told was 13 feet above its normal level, the road in front of Seabeck marina flooded I was told and homes all along the bank took on water, was told homes on the bank in Holly had a foot “under water” which was at foundation up, so I am guessing some may have had water in their houses.

Flock is doing good , 4 hens are laying now, so it’s true Welsummers do take 24 weeks or more to lay.
7:20 and is is finally getting a bit light out.
Have a good day all

It was a great sunny day yesterday, the flock enjoyed some kale from the garden. they have dug up some charcoal in that area rooster is standing. A few have very black poop the last few days. I picked some up and tossed it but they dug up more. My concern is I dont know what its from, it could my ok but it could be from treated wood?? so I'll try and pick up what I find.

I have this small trayed greenhouse thing I've had for years and just have not had the indoor space to set it up. but now I do. After I finish mink oiling 2 pairs of my boots today, I am going to work on getting it put together and get some seed started. I have room to put it in the dinning room down where I have my sowing machine and rocking chair, I'll just move them and set up a seed start area. I dont think I need to order anything but will inventory and double check.

I am glad I plowed under chicken poop the beginning of November, the snow didn't hurt the parsley, kale, arugula or the peas that reseeded themselves and came up.
I am eager to get cabbage, brussels sprouts and turnips sprouts going and I don't think its to early for tomato starts. I am not going to do a big grow this year just what I need to can and ferment. I do always plant a chicken row so they have greens.

Well I didnt build a fire this morning, its 40 out but my legs are cold. I have my red quilted flannel jacket on over my bathrobe 😅 but I think i better get to it and build a fire.

Have a good day

Good morning! We're beginning a week long thaw. I want to get up to the green house and plant some seeds Lettuce, kale, and spinach. I had about 20 pots planted, but mice ate plants and dug up seeds.

I filled all the mouse holes I could find with steel wool, and then filled them with spray foam. I also set a trap. Last time I was up there, I hadn't caught anything, but that was before we had the Christmas Blizzard.

While I like the warmer temps, I really (really-really) hope that it doesn't last long enough to break dormancy on anything. We have about 3 months of winter to go.
