Pics
I see Bald Eagles now and then but mostly immature. They don't have the white coloring. Much bigger than hawks. This is a picture of one in the field. There was a second one but it flew off before I could get it's picture.

I had a couple of White Leghorns. They were escape artists and would always find a way out of their pen no matter what coop and pen I put them in, Houdini-1 and Houdini-2. They got out one too many times. One plain disappeared the other I found feathers behind the coops. All of my pens are covered.

Tillie escaped once, but all three other chickens did, too. We weren't quite finished with the run, and had chicken wire on part of it because it's much quicker to secure than HC (we don't have any stray dogs, and we close the pop door at night, so there wasn't real worry for predators with that) and we apparently didn't secure it very well at the bottom, because we found them in our garage.

I bet you were glad you found them!

Definitely! Luckily, nothing bad happened to any of them. We usually only free range with supervision for fear of hawk attacks, and it would have been very easy for them to get to the road, so I'm very glad that we went out when we did. (we were going to get our bikes)
