Sit'n on the porch

I really dont know what to say here, but as I look at the pic's, it is a lot funnier than I thought,

So, I am in the coop, keeping an eye on the chicks...
the hens are fussing over which nest to use...
the 3yr old was in the top nest on the other side watching,,, the other hens left the coop,, and ,, Bob Rooster comes,, I think they went to tell him they had a complaint...

Bob starts fluffing the nest....

Second hen arrives

What's going on up here? You two going to use this nest?

1st hen sobbing, there was a problem with the nest, I called Bob, but he made it worse! She starts crying inconsolably.

Bob shrugs his shoulders to hen #2 and tries to comfort hen #1.

Here I can move this here and that one there, see it looks just like it did before.

Hen #2 says to herself, I can wait. I don't need to stick around for any of this. She hops down and heads out the door.

It really is interesting. I wonder if @Shadrach could any insights into what Bob was doing in this instance. He knows roosters pretty well.

First , the hen that is under him (hen#1)was trying out all the nesting boxes and then the 3year old hen,(hen#3) the one that is walking out in the last pic, came in and got in the top box on the opposite wall- so there are boxes on the south wall and on the north wall----


ok, then the hen you see standing on the edge of the box (hen #2)with Bob in it, she came in,

Well, #1 quickly got in the south top box and #2 was like No, I am getting that one and #2 jumped in the same box,

after a bit of fussing both jumped out

All the while #3 is just sitting in the top north box watching

after a few seconds, Bob marches in and gets in the top south box---
he starts vocally clicking/clucking/ making hen noises- he fluffs and pulls the nest and digs

and in comes #1 hen, she gets in the box and just slides on in under him like, Nope, I dont see you, this is my box,

then #2 comes and does just like you see in the pic's

So weird, I have heard him in the box before, I was gardening and I heard what I thought was the last hen to lay an egg, I looked to see who was not in the run so I would know which one was in the box,, well I counted hens 3 times, 1,2,3,4,5????? WHO is in the box, where is Bob,,, Bob what are you doing in the box????
I have heard of male birds helping to build a nest or sitting on a nest while the female is off the nest????
I have no idea whets up,, I am not an Animal Science Doc. Hahahahaha

just went out to check on the chicks, they have free run of the coop & run, Bob, is like, GO AWAY I GOT THIS!!! I think he is broody
