I love to use the Kluski noodles.Sure…really easy.
- 1# noodles…gram made her own but I use either extra wide or Kluski noodles.
- Head of regular cabbage
- A medium onion
Salt pepper to taste.
Boil pasta and set aside. Dice onion and chop cabbage to just bigger than Cole slaw size. Sauté in crisco until translucent and the cabbage begins to brown a bit. Enough crisco to sauté but not swim in. Yep crisco….no butter for this one. Season the cabbage to taste before adding noodles. Easier to season.
mix together and heat through for a bout 15 minutes for flavor to get into pasta. Keep an eye on it or it will stick to the pan. Those stuck bits are my favorite though.
really easy peasant food that goes well with pulled pork, kielbasa, smoked sausage. I remember my grandma rolling pasta on what I thought was a HUGE TABLE. everything is bigger when you’re 5 yo.
Hope you enjoy. Again, very basic, but some of the best memories were.
I often make hot german potato salad and knockwurst with red cabbage or my homemade kraut
The cabbage and noodles sounds yummy!
