Hi! I am breeding large fowl dark-skin birds because I find them fun and interesting. The 'extra roos' we've put in the freezer taste the same as any other chicken, just all dark meat.

I'll ditto what Lisa says. They're simply "cool" to me. No problem eating the dark meat, why should anybody have problems with it really.. other than it looks different than "most chicken flesh".. most store chicken are to a degree artificial anyways, bred to be butchered so young and also bred and fed to have a specific color on them.

If I'd listened to folks going 'eek, don't go there', I wouldn't have any of the the GREAT birds I have now.

Black skinned ,black fleshed birds are big in the Asian community. They are used in Chinese medicine and bring big bucks in the Asian food markets here. Many are imported frozen from Asia.
Just a cultural thing, like not eating Rostbiff (horse steaks).
