skin color gene

well I went looking and they are sold in the asian market around me and in whole foods, they were more expensive than regular chicken so I thought I would add it to my farmers market selection, just a thought could go terribly wrong but the worst thing is that my family only eats black chicken for a while

I'll ditto what Lisa says. They're simply "cool" to me. No problem eating the dark meat, why should anybody have problems with it really.. other than it looks different than "most chicken flesh".. most store chicken are to a degree artificial anyways, bred to be butchered so young and also bred and fed to have a specific color on them.

Black skinned ,black fleshed birds are big in the Asian community. They are used in Chinese medicine and bring big bucks in the Asian food markets here. Many are imported frozen from Asia.
Just a cultural thing, like not eating Rostbiff (horse steaks).
