Small egg in yard???

Your egg looks quite round, seems like turtle eggs are that shape to? The owl eggs are more oval like normal.
With my little experience, I'm guessing turtle.
 
I agree with @MGG , the shape of the egg definitely looks like that of a turtle or tortoise.
Whatever you do, do not move it. Rotating the egg will likely kill the embryo if it's still alive.

They have different requirements needed to hatch, and it may take a long time. It could be anywhere from a few days, to three months.

Just be aware that it may be illegal to hatch that species.
Snake Discovery (on YouTube) might have some more videos on hatching turtle eggs but I know there's this video and two other parts to it.

🤷‍♀️ This is what I found when I asked Google. Plus, it lives in ponds, so maybe it could be living in your water source?

Are there any turtle forums that might be able to give some insight. Looks like the Western Pond Turtle has more oval shaped eggs, I'm not sure if there are other native species though.
