Some questions on hatching eggs

Thank you so much for finding me that website. I think it will help me when I brake open the rest of the eggs!

It's a fantastic resource isn't it, I hope whoever wrote it is or becomes a member here so they can share it with everyone!

I broke open one more egg and it was the same as the one in the picture so I assume they are all like that and I don't like braking them open so I'm not braking anymore.
I got a thermometer/humidistat designed for incubators so that will help me with my next hatch!

At least whatever went wrong appears to be consistent - that bodes well for next time, i.e. not cold spots etc.
I don't blame you for not wanting to crack them all, it can be quite an experience! but it doesn't look like there's anything more to learn by doing them all.
Were you able to determine what the problem might have been?

I think the thermometer suddenly went wrong and the temperature got to high.

I'm going to tag @Pyxis and @aart again in case they have missed notifications, so they can take a look at your eggtopsy photo (page 3). Was taking another look at it and it seems like there was a lot of liquid for a day 18, but I am not familiar with chickens. They can advise about humidity as I think there might be an issue there too, although it also looks like it could have been a bit behind what you thought because of the fluid and that they had not started absorbing any of the yolk yet.

Not sure I can be of help, other than to recommend 30-50% humidity during incubation, trace your air cells by candling on days 7-10-14 to adjust humidity if needed(your ambient room temp and humidity can have an affect) 65-80% after day 18.

...and probably MOST important: calibrate your therms and hygros!!!
This is how I do that....
