Hey all, I've appreciated the help thus far more than you know, but there is a new problem :( I'm pretty sure Mac has a fever. Overall, his condition is slightly better since yesterday, but his beak and feet are extremely hot and he's almost constantly making noise. I suspect he wants out of the bucket since he's feeling better, but he's still not okay enough to be housed with the other ducks since theres water in there and if he has a fever I want to keep him quarantined.
Any tips for a ducky fever? Or at least a possible fever?

@Emily_VVV How's Mac doing this morning?
Still pretty much the same. He didn't feel as hot but I'm not sure if that's because the fever is going away, or because he had gone swimming and was wet. And, while he can balance okay now, he can pretty much only swim backwards and he won't walk even though if I give him a little push I can see that has capable of supporting himself while walking.

Your still supervising when he is in water?
He won't stand up and walk on his own? He has come so far lets keeping hoping he isn't finished yet.

Can you take his temp put the thermometer under his wing.

Yes, he is still being supervised in water and he will STAND but he won't walk by himself. He'll just stand there and cheep really loud until someone picks him up, pets him, or moves him where he wants to be. I can give him a little push to make him walk, which is how I know he's capable, but otherwise he won't go anywhere

Ducks normal body temperature is around 107 so they should feel warm to us all the time. I think the best way to tell if it has a fever is if it is lethargic and shivering.

Swimming backwards is very bizarre indeed. I’m lost on that one.

here is the video of Mac swimming.

He's doing much better now with walking :) he stayed outside most of the day today with Cheese (Pekin) and Pistachio (Americauna chicken), and when I came home from work I let them out of their nighttime enclosure... Mac was walking around! He's been waddling about with Cheese for the last 15 minutes or so :)

I think the heat from his feet and beak were because he couldn't have a pool of water with him due to the convulsions. Do ducks NEED water to regulate temperature? If so, then that's probably what was going on with him.

Wow that's amazing. I'm glad he seems to be walking more now. Maybe that will get his coordination straightened out to swim forward too.
