SOOOO Got RIPPED off!

If an eggseller living close by me would not let me pick the eggs

I WOULD NOT BUY.

Perhaps he/she does not want you to see their flock or the conditions they are living in.

This sounds like the ones we got off ebay. They were in a flat, not even a top on the flat. then just wrapped in bubble wrap around the entire flat. And then put into the priority box and a few plastic grocery bags shoved in around it. No individual wrapping, no double box, the eggs were free to jiggle around quite a bit. We bid on 25 eggs, they sent 30. But 9 were totally broken upon arrival. The others were covered with egg goo and many also had quite a bit of hen poop on them. This was a new ebay seller and only had about 4 feedbacks, all were good & from shipping eggs.

Well, we just finished hatching them out and ended up with 5 chicks. I'm no expert since we are new to hatching. I was glad to get 5. Luckily these were not expensive. These were EE/americana blue eggs.

Here in the UK, a lot of people have had their prize birds stolen and some people would never let buyers collect birds. For health and quarantine reasons as well as security. I read again and again of people having their best birds stolen the week after they've won prizes for them at a big show. Thieves go to shows and chat to breeders, get business cards, pretend they want to buy birds, then sneak round one night and steal them! I see on a lot of eBay adverts a note saying that the address the seller has on file with eBay is NOT the location where the birds are kept. If I had very rare or valuable birds, I'd probably do my best to conceal my location too! Maybe the seller has had birds stolen before...

Several people think that's how you are supposed to store hatching eggs. I've seen sellers display them like that very often in this area. One guy told me he turns them from pointy-side down to pointy-side up, that's how he rotates them during collection. So I bet he has some pretty crummy hatches.

Is there any reason or logical thinking behind it? It's kind of like dry incubation vs normal incubation?
Dry works better for me but others it doesnt. Every side has a story and i wonder what the reasoning would be.

I doubt it, just dumb ol' hillbillies

This is why you should buy my shipping eggs remember what luke skywalker said. There can only be one!!!!!! LOL Joking if you want good quality shipping eggs with a money back guarentee just search for prettyboy4realz on E-bay I have never had a complaint and my eggs are very fertile. Also there are tons of wonderful BYCERS who will make sure not to be like this guy here. Sorry you had a bad dealing with a money greedy failure. But this is why you only buy from reputable sources. Also look for NPIP when buying eggs most of the NPIP breeders take pride in there stock and want to see there birds make it. my sig has my birds and I have alot of breeds not available to the open public. but are available to bycers Minorca's, Blue andalusian, Custom sex links of all colors. Standard Ameruacana's feel free to pm me any questions you have

My husband and I sell on ebay (not anything chicken related), and there are good, honest sellers. This guy obviously isn't one of them and really shouldn't be allowed to sell anything on Ebay or anywhere. Ebay has a buyer protection policy that basically says if you can't work out the problem with the seller and your case is legitimate, they will refund your money, including shipping. I would go after this guy so he doesn't rip someone else off. Good luck.

?????????????? How do you know it wasnt dumb ol city boys? backwood folks are srs business........ LOL

One suggestion for all

Rather than ask if you can come to a sellers home, offer to meet them at a public place. They might be worried you will appear at their home later to rob them, etc.

I usually offer to meet people in front of Costco or McDonalds etc. They know right were those places are, yesterday I had to go to a freebee pick up from craigslist, it was way deep in a canyon on a one car wide road. Boy did I wish he had met me in a public place!

But the free beadboard and chair rail was worth it!

I agree with you that feed back should not include wether or not they hatched well. Althought if I get a really good hatch rate is like to go back and follow up saying that I got a high percentage of hatches. But that's the only time.
But the feedback for egg sellers is all about wether or not they were shipped to the best of the seller's ability. Like I said above I've had some excellently packed eggs and still lost afew eggs, I leave good feedback because it was obbviouse they did their best however that is not the case here whether the eggs would of hatched well or not the packaging was nowhere near what it should have been. And if it had been packed correctly they may have had a better chance at hatching. He can't control what happens after they leave but the goal as a seller should be to pack HEALTHY eggs CORRECTLY.
