Southern 101---Explanation of all things Southern

Here's one from Baltimore Md!!! We call water ------- wuder. When my Mom moved south (back in the 70's), she needed to have the wuder turned on. The water company had no clue what she was talking about. She had to spell it before they knew what she was saying!

Here in Maryland (or Merland as some say it), we have some pretty strange ways of saying things! I have to admit, I just love how ladies in the south talk! I would love to have that accent!

Now, I'm fixin' on getting another drink y'all!

Ooh, yeah, nanner puddin' and the REAL stuff, made from scratch, not with that yucky instant pudding.

Wingnut, if you really want DH's secret rub, I might Pm it to you, if you promise not to divulge it to anyone else. Shhhhh....

I want nanner puddin now! Now! NOW! Oh my gosh, that sounds so good!

One of my students once made the mistake of sayin' he made better biskits than me.
Humpf. Foolish boy challenged me to a biskit cookoff.

Speckled Hen!
You beat me to it! I was going to explain that it's not 'Coke' but 'Co-Cola' ---
When I was a teen-ager we had 'Co-Cola' parties to practice for being hostesses at cocktail parties and nobody does a cocktail party (or a late afternoon 'sherry soiree') better than a Southern Lady --

:)
