Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hey Orange County peeps - I'm thinking I might enter myself and my kids in this race: http://www.floridafamilyfunfest.org/index.html Have any of you done it before? Would the 10 and under category be ok for preschoolers? I'm trying to motivate them to stay active throughout the summer.
How old is your little one? My youngest is 6, my older sons, my husband and I all run the 5k's or 10k's. My daughter does the 1 mile with my little guy, and it's about right for him. He can walk the 5k. Do your girls run now? If you're going to be with them, and they DO have that category, I'd say why not? I've never done that particular one, but we do the LI ones all the time.

Keep them busy! My motto is "A busy kid has no time to get into trouble!"

Ok, so I'm disappointed. The guy I got my big girls from normally has young laying hens, and my husband has his heart set on 1 or 2 of them. I turned down my sons request to bring home a chick or 2 from his class hatch, because I'd be getting these girls for the old man for fathers day.
He doesn't have any!! I guess I can wait until he gets some, but now I have to figure out what to get him for fathers day!! ARGH!

Anyone have suggestions? He hates everything.

I know-he's all about those two hens. It's pretty funny, but now I feel bad because I can't get them for a few weeks.

That's a good idea-for a normal person. He doesn't do movies. Honestly, the last time he went to the movies it was when I had a stomach virus and he took the kids to see "Hunger Games" he complained for a week.

Before that-he took me to see "Jerry MacGuire" years ago. LOL!!

What about a gift punch card for the local car wash? Like 20 washes on a card, and he can punch off one or two at a time?
That's a great idea-again for a normal person. he drives a pick up that's a work truck. I think it's the dirt that holds it together! However-you just gave me a fabulous idea!!! I think maybe a detailing for his Motorcycle! He loves that thing, and now is the season he rides it alot into the city to save gas money! Oh I think that might work!

Ever since I read 50 shades of grey, the man has a smile on all the time!

I think he's gonna read it too...

I'd love to get him tools, but he's got his own carpentry business on the side, and has anything and everything he could ever want. the man takes out 15 power tools and a laser level to hang a picture.
