Its like the charlatans that came into town selling snake oil. I'll be gone before they return.I wonder what the return policy is?

Only if I wanted to lose my lips in the process.I feel for you, and for your husband. It's tough to deal with letting go of your kid. Even though Laura lives here, we rarely spend any time together. Does your son know how your husband feels? And it may have nothing to do with your son and your husband. Maybe Jen's attached at the hip to HER parents.
Stay cool. Would it help to just walk up to your husband and just kiss him on the forehead and walk away? Always works wonders for Bobby's mood...

OH! I forgot - you can buy Pedialyte in powdered form now at the drugstore. Go to the baby section, and you will find the powdered one near the pre-mixed kind. You can add it to water and drink it like that, or mix it with Gatorade for even more of a boost. I think you should have some on hand, considering you have a history of dehydration. And not that I'm the one that told you this, but it does work wonders on a hangover... ;-)I just may need that link some time soon! Do they take mildly psychotic roosters as well? He's not mean, just a paranoid Schizophrenic.![]()
I just got in from hanging with the girls for awhile. I noticed some weird behavior-I wonder if it's "Playing". The girls (big laying girls too) all do the rooster bully chest bump thing to each other. they remind me of my boys when they play football and do the chest bump in the air after a good play.
I would think it's either playing or pecking order establishment. Nobody gets hurt, they just do the chest bump, feathers ruffle a little then they keep scratching and pecking at the ground. Very entertaining.
I had to drive my daughter to her jobs today. First the movie theater, from noon to 4. Then from 4:30 and I'll pick her up at 10-10:30. While I was waiting for her at 4, my car said it was 103 degrees. I believe it. It was BRUTAL. I still feel rather strange, weak and my stomach is still a little queasy. I've been drinking alot of fluids so I guess it just takes some time to equalize again. If I'm not right as rain on Monday-off to the doctor I go!
Ha ha, yes as a tall woman who has been hit on by many men under 5'5" I believe it. Although our bantam rooster is still a big baby that runs away from the big girls!I am happy for you Heather! It's hard parting with the boys as I well know.
Don't be surprised that a bantam hen doesn't take over the flock by force eventually. They are small but mighty in my experience. It's the napoleon thing.![]()
Sorry to hear it, I'm sure it hurts. I think you should call your son and mention it to him. Maybe he and your husband can do a just guys trip sometime? When I got up at 5 o'clock I should have just got in the car and went to Elephants Trunk.Richard was in a bad mood yesterday and I can't see it getting any better today. With the heat I can't escape to the back yard which I normally do.It didn't help when Adam called and said he is in Philly with his girlfriend Jen at her parents.Told us he couldn't come down early to visit ,that they were staying around Boston for the week. He called it a stacation. Learn a new word everyday with this new generation. In the five years they have been dating they have never hung out with us once.I have learned to just live with it, but it hurts Richards feeling (he has some) terribly. When Adam was growing up, I always said that they should be surgically attached at the hip since they spent so much time together.Richard has still not accepted him not wanting that anymore. Thanks for letting me vent.
I found this site while browsing around, and I'm totally hooked on it:

It's a guide to different breeds but honestly a lot more organized than BYC's pages, with photos and clear information. The link to Arucana's alone was fascinating; apparently they descend from a different wild Galliform breed, not Gallus Gallus. Also they were brought from Asia to South America and then back again. You really start to understand that Chickens have made civilization possible! Combine that with the theory that man started farming to produce grain to make beer, not bread, and you have the theory that
Chicken + Beer = Civilized Humanity

Heather, that website's owner is part of "Hudson Valley Chickens" group on yahoo.....of which I also subscribe. Nice group of people....always willing to help with advice. They hold sales/gatherings upstate along the hudson valley area. Even Tractor Supply allows them to use their parking lot as a kinda farm/animal/fresh food flea marke sale a couple times a year. Lots of hands on knowledge. you'd enjoy it I think.I found this site while browsing around, and I'm totally hooked on it:
