gosh I want to live in the country.
Hope those of u without power get it back soon.
Stay warm.
I'm wiped out. Spent the morning taking the reef in
my aquarium apart scrubbing, dipping corals in iodine
soln. Stiring up the sand putting everything back. Lugging
buckets of new salt water ugh. Time for a nap. My arms
feel like rubber bands. The things I get myself into because
Impulsive nature. Never decide on a whim " it will be cool
to have salt water fish" although that's how I got into chickens
too at least that turned out good.
The previous owners of our house had a very elaborate reef tank set up. I ended up taking it out and just changing it to a simple freshwater tank because I was so sick of all the stuff breaking. Ugh, never again.

Hi from Huntington, as we enter Day 7 without power. My daughter was such a queen crankypants yesterday, I went to Michaels. I'm going to make a black sheep for my sister, since she's taken over the "bad daughter" position from me with my Mom.

Thank God Laura's boyfriend came to pick her up so they could go to Target and Walmart and have some retail therapy. Being in stores is a nice little oasis from the storm issues. While you're in there you forget it's dark and cold at home. She came home with bags of stuff and a better attitude.

There's been lots of work going on in my neighborhood so I'm hopeful we get our power back today. We need what little gas we have to put in the gas guzzling SUV we rented for Laura. It was all they had left.

I'm amazed I haven't cracked yet. After all the bs with my Mom, losing so much work last week, Laura's accident AND the storm, you'd think I'd be drooling or hiding under the covers by now. I think the crochet therapy has helped.

I'm hoping the auto body shop opens today so I can get some kind of idea when Laura's car will be fixed. And I'm hoping to score some gas. My needs are small...

Where is that crochet hook?

Serenity now....
Going to see how bad my friends house on the water in Lindenhurst is.
I feel it may be condemned. It looks like 6 of his cars will be totaled.
He needs a hug.

Here in CNY, there are still no generators to be found. The Southern Tier/Broome County got hit with Irene last year, scared them when Sandy was coming. Brother's girlfriend has family in NJ. They found a generator in Oneonta to take down.
Downstaters are coming up, buying shopping carts full of gas cans. One of the neighboring landowner's from LI came up with a 100 gallon tank in his truck, he needs gas to run his boat for his business. I hope everyone gets power back soon and this potential Nor'Easter spares you from more weather.

Reporting from staten island.
Life is going on here and a lot of relief organizations supporting those who need it most. Many locations are now actually turning away clothing donations now because there were so many.
I just don't know how all who were displaced will eventually be house as they can't stay in the high school shelters forever. We need a tent city with heat. But the coming nor easter would make that a sure problem.
My chickens are laying weirdly shaped eggs. I will load up a pic up later.

Meanwhile this was taken by my son during his past few days in the clean-up zone.
A Jeep Cherokee on a fence on Cherokee Street.

Lowes on staten islandarthus kill road has huge $800 generators by the dozens now.
no gas cans to be found or gas. sons friend sat for 6 hours waiting for a tanker which never arrived yesterday. My DH went in for the first time to work and it'll be his last if he cant find gas on the way home tonight.I need to get more candles today and feed.

Oh, Maggie, I hope everything is ok there- I finally got my internet back and saw pictures-I am sending all my thoughts and prayers. Just incredible devastation.

Suzanne, Roberta, or anyone else-No power yet? If you need anything-just give a holler. I'm hanging close to home since my gas guzzler has only half a tank, and my husband will need to siphon some to get to work tomorrow night. I've been crocheting and now I am finally able to do laundry. I can't believe I was looking forward to this...

My kids STILL don;t have school, so I'm inundated with children. I sat in the chicken coop for an hour this morning. The girls are cathartic. They just cluck and peck at me...soothing.

Hess is giving priority to cops and firemen at their stations that have gas.
Hope everyone gets power soon. Be safe .
Carol
