Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Well, she went from the roof, to the neighbors tree, to another neighbors tree.
Husband wouldn't let me try to get her off the roof, so....she's gone.
One neighbor said he saw her hanging with the turkeys and the guineas at his house.
Let's see if she comes back.
Bye bye, Peaches.

My neigbors have gently suggested that I stop at peafowl. LOL. That noise they make scares the bejeezus out of me anyway. My cousin has them and Mr. P is like Kato from the old pink panther films. He sneaks up on you and then cuts loose with that call. We were at a BBQ there and I didn't realize they liked the roof, he stood over me and made that noise and I almost fell off the deck. Nope. No Peafowl here.

I loved Kato! "Kato.... I know you are in there...... HIYA!" Too funny.

Oh no. :( I hope she returns to your house. Maybe she's looking for a nice young peacock to hang out with.

So no more bloody chicken poop today - hooray! I checked over everyone's vents and wings and eyes and ears, everything looked just fine. I scrubbed the waterer and added 4ml of Wazine to a 5 gallon waterer more because that was the only thing I had on hand that might likely address the issue. I also examined the bloody part through the plastic bag and it seems more stretchy, like a piece of skin, than like a smear of blood. This is my highly unqualified assessment mind you. Assuming it doesn't snow like the dickens tomorrow I'm going to try and clear out the coop some more, it is a little wet. I also need some coarser grade sand for the unroofed exercise pen area, I think the stuff I have isn't draining well enough.

Of course I also have only two hens that are laying at the moment. :( The EE has gone on her winter break which she did last year and the Welsummer is like on a 1 a week schedule. Not that we eat so many eggs at the moment anyway. I made a big assortment of football crap food and we watched many bowl games all at once. Sort of a last hurrah to not dieting I guess. Yum.

Okay, so here's what it's like to be 53 in my house. I was going to make hard boiled eggs for egg salad for Laura. I put the pot on the stove and went to fold laundry. Then I got on the computer, la dee da. I was reading Heather's post about eating eggs and went "OH SHIrT! THE HARD BOILED EGGS! I FORGOT THEM!!"

Well, I really am senile because I forgot to turn the stove on in the first place. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Rhonda, my EE hadn't laid an egg in almost 2 months. I was just reading about how some EEs take a winter break after they molt. Lo and behold, she laid an egg this morning. 9 eggs from 10 hens today.

That's my flock!

Great numbers Suzanne..

awesome! I on the other hand do not think we will get anything out of our EE Gallena until April. She dislikes the cold weather so, it's as if she really is Latina.

Congratulations mom! Nice accomplishment for your son!

Heather, the correct dosage for Wazine 17 is 2 Tablespoons per Gallon of water.
Wazine 34 (the stuff in Doc's kit) is 1 Tablespoon per gallon. Use for 1-3 days.
Good luck on the poop patrol!

Yes, somewhere we have a Kindle.
Somewhere. He claims to have been looking for it for a few months.
UGH.
