Well, chicken drop-off #2 went well. Not so nice neighborhood, but a very nice family. $20 for a LS pullet. If you're keeping score, that leaves only Leon and Mary to be rehomed. The guy from NJ backed out, so I'm considering my alternatives. Leon is still not crowing, so I may try to wait it out until a show/fair and try to sell them as a pair. Otherwise, Leon's going to have to be dinner for someone and Mary will go to one of the guys who bought the other two.
Apparently, my roosting bar is designed for 10 fluffy butts. Because now that there are 12 chickens out there, only two are sleeping on the shelf. It will be very neat and orderly when the last two go.
Bobby uncovered three huge bins labeled "yarn" in the basement today. uh oh.![]()
Silly boy. He wanted to know why I bought more yarn if I had so much yarn already. I tried to explain, but I should have just said, "Why do you buy more headphones, when you have so many pairs of headphones already?" So now I have to make him a scrap blanket for the bed.
Speaking of which, I cleared out some of the yarn I bought recently. Half hour at Michael's, a stack of receipts the size of the Bible, money back on my debit card and a huge store credit. Shopping bulimia.
I heard about Flushing Meadow Zoo today. Heather, we may have to go. They have a room where parrots fly free.
Tomorrow's project: clearing enough shiRt out of the garage to be able to get my father's old Army trunk down. I'm considering painting it and using it in place of the coffee table in my little room. More places to hide yarn.![]()
Here's a photo for all you chicken lovers out there:
(I believe that's Roberta on the right)

I have 2 trunks that I got at a yard sale a few years ago-they are a coffee table and a side table in my living room. I just retouched the black paint. I love them-in the big one (coffee table) I keep all the boys football gear/baseball gear/ lacrosse gear...and an air freshener. In the side table, I keep all my scrapbook stuff (I haven't worked on that in literally years-gotta do that-the kids are growing up!!
Danny is home today-no side work! I'm hoping this isn't the season winding down-I get so scared and worried about money, when he has no side work. OK, maybe I'm worried that I might have to go out and get a job...

My kids are home from school today, for the holiday, but my middle guy has football practice this morning. I'm going to have Dan drive him since I've been feeling a little throat thing coming on. (It's my turn-kids all had this already-it's only fair!)
The girls decided to check out the front yard yesterday.

What's the plans for today and this week, folks? I'm doing more attic cleaning, then office cleaning, hopefully I can convince Dan to do some yard work, some of the wood in our giant woodpile fell over, so it needs to be fixed, wood needs to be moved closer to the house, and we need a new grill. (ours is older than dirt, no longer works except for 2 of the 6 burners-it's BAD.) The boys are up, eating and ready for the day. Hopefully, their energy will last for the whole day and we can get the yard done!
