Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I went to Riverhead to Talmage and got feed, scratch, shavings and hay.  Plus a bag of feed for Donna and one for my friend Vito.  We're good to go! :yiipchick   I don't like Layena as much as I like the Agway stuff.  It doesn't smell as yeasty as Layena.  And it's never gone bad on me.  This time around I bought 50 lb. of Hearty Hen feed ($17) as well as my usual 75/20 corn/oat scratch.  The Hearty Hen feed has added Omega 3.

I have been getting the Hearty Hen. It gives the yolks a very dark yellow orange color and very rich taste. And I like that it has the Omega-3 because we have a 2 year old picky eater that likes scrambled eggs. We are selling some of the eggs to friends that culled their older flock and are waiting for the pullets to start. They like the eggs enough to switch to the Hearty Hen also. It costs a little more, so am thinking of mixing with the regular Agway layer to stretch it. One bag lasts me 2 weeks with 10 hens and 5 Roos.

So happy you posted this, as I have been trying to locate a soy free feed to feed my pullets once they switch to POL. SO HAPPY I looked it up as I have been trying to get together a group to off set costs to order Countryside Organics, because it is soy free! Now I can try this!

THank you!

Congratulations on the egg! It's so much fun to see all the colors they produce.

We've been considering a wood pellet stove...what kind of fuel does the insert use?[/quote]

Thanks! The egg totally excited all of us!
That is a wood burning insert. You start it just like a fireplace. We wanted some thing that is easy to burn in. Pellets still have to be bought. We can always find natural wood! It's got a fan so it really blows heat into the rest on the house.

Morning all, haven't slept all night.fighting off an anxiety attack . I don't know why I so nervous about this storm. This just isn't me. Huge old trees on my property.im also worried about the girls. Sorry just talking it out .
The egg is beautiful and so is the fireplace.
I have always wanted a fireplace or an antique stove.
Be safe everyone.if anyone needs my help after this has past I'll come over and help .
Would it be OK to post my phone # on here for anyone?
Love you guys Carol
Stay safe
