OK, that site said that the bite of the golden silk (banana) spider is no more venomous than a bee sting. I still am not willing to make their acquaintance.

OK, I think my Mom has the names mixed up. The golden silk spider AKA: Banana spider is NOT deadly, BUT the Brazilian wandering spider AKA: Banana Spider is DEADLY. They are not the same; the Golden Silk Spider is known as Banana Spider because of it's color, yet, the Brazilian wandering spider is known as Banana spider because it lives mainly in banana's.
