Spraddle leg or pulled muscle in 13 day old duckling?

Just took a closer look at Tony’s leg and it seems to be twisted to the outside right at his knee (? Like higher to his body where the bend is, whatever that is lol)
I just can’t tell if that was already like that or if the slip caused it. It doesn’t seem dislocated though. Just gave them a swim in a kiddy pool and his left leg keeps kinda floating away from him almost so he keeps kicking it in the water. Will post a video shortly

It looks to me this could be part of the the birth defect the way his little body is twisted and the leg is part of it. I would get the b complex and get them both started on it. He may not ever straighten out but it may help it from getting worse. He’s such a healthy looking little thing and his little buddy is his support duck!!

Oh I love that video and how the other duck is being so sweet to him! I hope someone can help!

She’s amazing, i couldn’t have picked a better buddy for him!

I kinda thought so too, though the slipping may have made it a bit worse. I put a few bath mats down on their brooder though and he seems to do really well with those!
Besides being a little odd looking he really is super healthy! Just weighed them and they’re both 325 grams, TRIPLE their weight of last week! And agreed, Penny is so sweet with him. I tried to stay out of their way the first week to make sure they bonded primarily with each other. If I end up not being able to keep them at least they’ll always have each other y’know

Okay next freak out...

Tony seemed to be breathing a little harder than normal and there was a tiny squeaking sound when he inhales. It wasn’t there this morning. And his body also moved a lot more when he was breathing but it was only noticeable when he was quietly laying down somewhere, which he also seems to be doing a bit more however he’s still active and eats and drinks and runs around with his sister when they have play time, and his appetite (especially with mealworms!) is still very good. Just not sure what’s going on with him. I also haven’t seen him clear his nose thingies (nareis? Is that their name?) today I’m pretty sure. I gave him a little bath in some warm water he definitely was excited and had a drink, but he hadn’t been “sneezing” into the water like his sister does often now that I have the new water dish.

Oh and as for diet, I’m slowly switching them to an 18% protein duck grower diet because they hit 2 weeks on Monday, they still get the 1/2 tbs of nutritional yeast (the expensive organic kind :lau) mixed in with their 1/4 cup of mash, and they’re on a variety of veggies (corn and peas from a can, tomatoes, cucumber, apple, parsley (for vit E), broccoli, squash), and today I scrambled them an egg as a little boost and gave them the crushed shell too. They also get grit every day sprinkled between their veggies.

I’m sorry for the long length of text, just trying to give as much info as possible. Am I overreacting?:oops:

Is it when hes around the heatlamp? Sounds like overheating mabye. if they overheat they pant like dogs

You turn the heat down for him ever week i assume
