Spraddled legs...

I get you’re frustrated...

Breathe...

Do you have someone that can help you? Sounds like you need two people... one to hold and another to tape.

If not continue to get the chick used to you until it can be done calmly.

You just need to step away for a bit and collect your thoughts
Im sorry. You don't know how much im depressed about this... I hate seeing chicks suffer.. I was trying to help her but the chick is very very insane... After failing multiple times the chick was litteraly moving and kicking and going crazy in the brooder.... I just wish it was a chick and not a quail... Would be much easier and less depressing.. I paid 400 bucks for a good incubator and now i perfer getting my old chinese incubator...

I tried bandanges... BUT THE F#CKING BABY WONT F#$&ING WAIT A BIT... i held one F_&CING LEG AND IT goes insane.... IT WENT TO THE POINT of me holding him so hard its Just basically animal abuse... I calmed myself i did one chick successfully... THE OTHER one that won't JUST STOP A BIT was left in the brooder... It will mantain itself

I got quite big hands, but I can handle it alone... takes a few tries and definately works better together with my daughter, who never give up any chick, but ... I manage to tape them all.

Maybe take a drink first (calms down and steady the hands). With rage you will not get to any results.

I hatch constantly so I know how you feel... Honestly

My last quail hatch was so depressing that I had to take a day to just wind down from it.

Hatching isn’t always a happy thing when things like this happen, but focus on the good that has happened.

I also got a Brinsea and I don't use the cardboard bottom, it also let them splay and they cost insanly much. I use mats like this:

Consider this next hatch.

Good luck with the lil splay leg :fl

THE BIRD WONT FREAKING STAND STILL.. even with 3 people we couldnt.. THE QUAIL IS TOO DAMN SMALL.... I almost went insane i was screaming at the bird to stay still... I just gave up and put it back... Hopefully it will die soon so it can no longer suffer..
If you're not willing to spend the time to work on the chick (and that's not necessarily an awful thing) at least end it quickly rather than let it suffer.

I have seen a picture where someone took card stock and stretchy medical wrap and wrapped the chick to the card stock. This held the chick so they could work on the legs.

You need a taller cup that’s narrow and makes them stand.

You can’t just give up on it. Splay leg isn’t a death sentence to a chick, it will adapt to having messed up legs. You have the chance to fix it now. Have patience. It’s just a chick and needs your help to live the life it should.

@Nabiki do you have that picture of your cup that you can share, please?
This was actually the tube of a waterer. This chick did not improve, however, and I had to cull it.
