Spraddled legs...

They either escape from it or sit in a wrong position in the cup
You need a taller cup that’s narrow and makes them stand.

You can’t just give up on it. Splay leg isn’t a death sentence to a chick, it will adapt to having messed up legs. You have the chance to fix it now. Have patience. It’s just a chick and needs your help to live the life it should.

@Nabiki do you have that picture of your cup that you can share, please?

You just need the right size/shape of jar/bottle/cup... any type of container that's close to the right shape. Maybe you have a large pill bottle that would fit the need. Calm your frustrations and methodically search your home.

You might need to modify your container by lining it with paper toweling or fabric or... to make it narrower and/or taller. Be creative here. You have a tiny living being in your hands who is suffering. You need to focus and reach within yourself for a solution.

The container needs to be (or be modified to be) narrow enough so that its sides will support the quail's upward movement when it pushes with its feet.

The container needs to be tall enough so that the quail can only just see over the rim with legs fully extended. This way it cannot escape but is still motivated to try.

Place a bit of paper toweling or a small scrap of fabric or even some dirt in the bottom--anything that will help the baby's feet to grip the floor.

You can do this, but you'll have to keep a level head and reject the frustration--all those negative emotions. This little baby needs you. You got this. Now go figure out how to make it happen.

Why don't you tape 'em?

I tape all my splay legs and got a 95% recover rate.
Of course it is tiny patience game... but definately good possible.

I don't even put them in a glas/cup... But it increase chances.

I tried bandanges... BUT THE F#CKING BABY WONT F#$&ING WAIT A BIT... i held one F_&CING LEG AND IT goes insane.... IT WENT TO THE POINT of me holding him so hard its Just basically animal abuse... I calmed myself i did one chick successfully... THE OTHER one that won't JUST STOP A BIT was left in the brooder... It will mantain itself

I get you’re frustrated...

Breathe...

Do you have someone that can help you? Sounds like you need two people... one to hold and another to tape.

If not continue to get the chick used to you until it can be done calmly.

You just need to step away for a bit and collect your thoughts

I find that you can gently scoop them up and hold carefully them with their head poking out through the circle your thumb and forefinger make, and their legs resting between your middle and fourth fingers. They seem to stay more still if you hold them so they're sort of laying on their back with their legs pointing upwards (try not to keep them like this for too long though as I think it affects their breathing a little).

I managed to fit a little shoe on a button quail chick like this, so you should be able to brace their legs with a bit of tape or plaster/band-aid. Please don't give up on it or shout at it, this is a scared little living thing that you can save with a bit of patience. Good luck!

I have done tape as well. I think vet wrap works as well!
This one is the one that i just couldn't hold.. (Not helped)
