Spring Granny Square Swap

I just finished making three loaves of bread, two go to neighbors and friends along with a jar of lemon curd that I also made today. I used mason jars for the lemon curd and put Christmas material under the lid and pinked around it and then tied on a red bow.

I know you all will laugh at this. I'm still laughing. I went to the garage to get a couple of jars for the lemon curd and when I opened the two boxes of jars, guess what I found? I found them almost full of jars of jam that I had completely forgotton about when we moved here 6 years ago. Guess I'll be tossing out the jam after Christmas. They've stayed up there this long so another couple of days won't hurt.

Hello crochet friends~

I was out of town unexpectedly and just back back a few days ago. Feeling a bit behind on the Christmas Spirit, but we did manage to get our family hodgepodge Charlie Brown tree up last night. I'd put my Nature Tree up a few weeks ago, but DD insisted that we have our pitiful sentimental tree as well. My husband said it's in such bad shape that he refused to help put it up. LOL!!!! It looks soooooooo much better once we get all the wonderful memory making ornaments on it.

Mmmmmmmmm Betty, I can almost smell your bread. I need to scroll back and get your recipe. I'm about to bust a move in the kitchen and start my annual pumpkin Bread baking for friends and family as well.

I just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!!!!

I woke up to a Bah! Humbug! No hot water...... I pushed the reset button and am waiting to see if it is working again but I doubt if I'll find someone to come out and fix it on Christmas Eve. Of course we were supposed to go to Bakersfield for dinner with my husbands daughter and family so may have to cancel if I can find someone to come out. Hubby has to work until 2 when they'll close the store.
I thought I could have a quiet morning with only my chickens to work with but it's not to be I guess. I'll call my neighbor in a minute and see if I can go up there and take a shower. Other than that it is windy and a hard freeze warning is in effect expecting the temps to go into the teens tonight. But no snow. Boo! Hoo!

I think Writer is right. Any pattern is fine as long as the square is 6". Part of the fun of the swap is seeing the variety everyone comes up with, within the color scheme.

I'm sorry about the lack of hot water. Hopefully, you've had a chance to clean up after all that baking. If you have a stove, you can heat water and bathe in a bucket. If the repair person doesn't come, you can go to Bakersfield. I hope you can at least get a moment with the chickens, especially the babies. Maybe a hook and yarn can brighten your day. Take care.

Hi All,

Nice to see all of you.

I was at my DS30 house with him and my DIL for a pancake breakfast. That was very nice! N Then we took the dogs for a short walk and Tiger was so happy to go her tail was waging so fast back and forth. What a joy.

I bought another bag of chicken feed just incase the one I have runs out when my DS30 comes to babysit them while I am at my mother's. The store mananger asked me if my chickens were getting a present. So I felt guilty and bought 6 suet cakes. They have already devoured them. I need to start making some when I have more time because the chickens do love them sand its good for them to keep warm on the cold nights.

Rancherhicks am I understanding you right? You are wanting to join? No the patterns don't have to be the same. Refer to the first page with the instructions on it for the size yarn, size square, etc. I'll be glad to add you to the list.

I fixed the hot water heater by pushing the reset button (it's electric) so I have hot water. Yay! I could always heat it in a big pan so it takes so long to heat and I haven't been that primitive in a long while

We just got back from Bakersfield where we had a lovely ham dinner and a very good visit with hubby's family. The weather was clear, no wind and practically no traffic. We only saw two big rigs on the road when there is usually a long line of them going through the Tehachapi pass on hwy 58. I hope they were heading home to family, the others already being there.

My friend who houses her chickens here since she can't have them where she lives had to leave her dog here. The dog likes to play this game of not coming when she is called and wouldn't get in the car when she was ready to go home so she left her here until tomorrow. The dog won't come to me either as I tried to get her in the house. It's going down in the teens tonight and is too cold for her to be out.

My hubby's granddaughter has taught herself to crochet and is doing a fantastic job and now she's teaching herself to knit. She is 20 and she's used a book and the Internet to learn.

Merry Christmas one and all. I love that Christmas tree.

I work with the ladies at church to Knit 12" Squares for folks who are sick. A 6" square will be a piece of cake. Plus I have bags of yard left overs. Grannies are my favorite. I like to use lots of colors and I can do them while watching the tellie.

Count me in,

Rancher.
