Spring Granny Square Swap

Those are the COOLEST little houses! .. well, not really 'little' are they? But Really Cool!

Re: after square projects. My stash of yarn is packed except for some odds and ends. I've made two granny square hats from them. The first has a lot of red in it, so I gave it to a friend who wears a lot of red. The second is a hodgepodge, each side being different. I don't have anyone to give it to, so think I'll keep it in my bag and offer it to a street person in the hope of cheering him/her up. The only other thing I have out, besides the wool I'll use for a pair of bed socks for a friend in England, is a skein of brown. I have just lost my scarf, so am making a scarf for myself out of the brown, which is the color I wear.

I love all the chick pics and also the sharing of coop designs, etc.

Please, can someone post square pics or pics of other crochet projects? You are all so talented and an inspiration.

That's what I thought! I have a bunch of commercial grade landscape fabric that I could sew up into tubes quite easily. I thought a coop would be a great first project.

Sorry I just have the one pattern I am doing and I already posted a pic of it but here it is again.
I do have pics of two projects that started with a granny square design. I'll include pics of them too. On both the doll blanket and the baby blanket just pay attention to the beginning square in the middle. Love the idea of giving the hat away to a homeless person. I used to do this with umbrellas on rainy days. A few homeless folks are afraid to take things from strangers but most appreciate it very much.

Thank you Sunny. It helps. It's amazing what one can do with a square. Cheers.

Isn't it? I have seen lists of projects online that can be done starting with a granny square. Very cool stuff like lamp shades (thread crochet), slippers, pillows, sweaters, belts (with very small thread motifs)... I'll never be able to make even a fraction of all the projects I want to do but looking is half the fun.

I have been trying to get a group together here in Reno to do crochet for preemies and cancer patients but no luck so far. Shipping is so expensive these days. I shipped a few things to Kate, a couple of years ago, cause they had donated some of their stuff to the hospital but the shipping was outrageous! A local group would be much easier to work with.

Hey everybody~

Rancher~ Thanks again for sharing pics of your cute coop!

Cainsister~ I have 15 squares complete, so just shy of having one set. I haven't had time to crochet lately. I need to finish the head hugger I started for my brother in law and I haven't even started the ones for my 3 nephews yet, but I will soon. I have been itching to make some grocery totes, but it will have to wait until I finish the beanies. I have a list a mile long I'd like to make for family & friends.

Sunny & Dascountry~ I have some camo yarn by Red Heart. I made my friend's son a beanie out of it. He's 9 yrs old and picked the yarn out him self from my stash. I'll post a pic if I can find it.

Alethea~ I love the idea of a granny square hat. I think it's so sweet you gave one to your friend and may give the other to a homeless person. I'm sure they will really appreciate it. I'd love to see a pic of it before you give it away. My DD wants me to make her a hippie vest out of granny's. I made her a cute purse out of the sunflower pattern granny.

Here's the project I've been working on. The dress is finished. Now I am making 26 of these little squares to make into an evening vest to go with the dress.

So yeppers lots of things can be made from the squares. This will be going to Japan for my grandaughter.
Oh this is adorable!!!! What a lucky granddaughter! I love it!!! I would have killed for something like this as a kid for my Barbie Doll.
