Spring Granny Square Swap

I'll be on the road to my new home in an hour. It is raining here, a perfect Pacific Northwest send-off. I'll see y'all at the other end.

Well I hope they do better than I did. I went to a knitting class last year and every time my stitches would get tighter and tighter as I got more rows complete. I had to keep tearing it out and starting over. I asked the instructor is this was normal and she said, "Oh yes. We call it frogging."

"Frogging?", I asked.

"Yes, because you Rip it, Rip it, Rip it."

I haven't sat still long enough to even try to learn to knit, but I'm sure I'd be froggin it as well.

Well we get a treat on Thursday's meeting! Some of the members have been wanting to learn to knit and some ladies from the quilter's guild that sponsor both teams are coming to show them how to knit!
We have almost all squares finished and are now raising postage funds!

Your students are so lucky to have you organize all these wonderful lost arts for them to learn. What a great experience!

Alethea hope you have a safe trip.

Everyone else - Yes boiled mittens are mittens knitted from wool larger than necessary and the boiled to felt them and make them waterproof. The fishermen in Maine and New England wore them. I read it in Yankee magazine years ago.

I did get just a few. The puny RIR that was given to me passed, but the deformed curled toe one lived and is standing nice and straight now. The next week I got 3 silkies (2 blue & a splash) and 5 more EE pullets. I'm excited about these 3 cute tiny silkies, b/c I've only owned large fowl. I'll try to post a pic soon. A few weeks ago I finally dragged my bator from the basement and cleaned it up so it's ready to go. Sorry I haven't written, but life has gotten sooooooo busy lately. I'll have to fill you in. How's your new flock growing? I bet it's time for your first hatch in your new fancy big incubator. I've been eye balling their smaller ones, but need to save up some mula first. I notice there is a 10% discount online until April 15th.

Thanks Rancher!!! I hope to give it a whirl one of these days....

Yep. I just ordered some hatching trays and a couple other misc items. For everyone else the 10% off code for Brinsea (brinsea.com) is EASTER. Can't wait to see pics of the new babies!

My first hatch was for a friend to test hatch her old roo's fertility. None of her eggs were good! It was sad. I had thrown in a few of my marans pullets eggs, thinking they would not develop cause they are brand new layers, and three of them did develop and are due Sunday. That is if they hatch.
