Spring Granny Square Swap

It's hard to believe we're only two weeks away from the deadline. Maybe that's why we're not getting a lot of posts. It would be hard to post and crochet at the same time.

I can't imagine how much fun it would be to sort the hundreds of squares you'll be getting, Betty. Is there a method? Is it totally random? Do we get some of our own back? I've started on additional squares, adding in beige, off-white, light and dark dusty rose. It's all to go with the rug. The off-white is on the yellow side, but will be ok.

We had a big thunderstorm the same night as Betty's storm. It's unusual on the coast. It could have been a related storm since we're both in California.

Ok I'm done. I've been really sick with allergies but I finished them today and will mail them asap. Probably tomorrow, if I can get some sleep tonight.

Now please don't temp me with goats.

Betty I wish I was there. Lord knows we've got plenty of "stuff" at our age and none good for the antiques road show.

Spent the weekend tucking little tails in and cleaning up my squares. Went to the p.o. yesterday to mail them and they did not have a priority mail box that would fit them. :-\

So... off to Wal-Mart I went... purchased a box for $0.58, brought it home, made a couple modifications (it was a bit too big) and now... they are ready to be mailed! I will get them out to Betty today. :)

We're getting close for sure. It's going to be fun going through all the blocks and sorting. We may end up with some of our own but will try to evenly distribute so all us get some of everyone elses and not our own. When I get them all I will take a photo of them. I still have to bag and tag mine. I've been so busy with the garden and quilting. I'm pretty sure the storm we had was the same one as Alethea's even though she's on the coast and I'm in the desert. We got a good rain out of it and of course the infernal wind but I had only a little wind burn on plants. The mountains got a little snow but it's gone now and it will go up in the 80's this weekend and maybe the 90's. That should help my garden. Hope everyone is getting their blocks done.

I need to finish mine!!!

I'm going to do that tonight, so I can get them in the mail soon. I think I've been tucking tails and snipping them as I go, but need to double check all that and still need to tag & bag them.

I still have at least another weeks work left on mine but they should be finished by the due date no problem! I think I'll pick an easier pattern next time.

No, I probably won't.

I'm a gluten for punishment.

We are pretty well done except in measuring today we found some that are half an inch too small so we need to try and even them out. The ones that are close to 1/4 inch or less too small stretch out well enough to be acceptable, and will fit just fine.

Yea it's hard to get them to exactly 6 inches. One of mine is 1/4" under the others are either a tiny fraction off or they are 1/8" too big. Got quite a bit more done the last couple days.
Tomorrow is shot cause I promised my Dad I take him out to lunch in Carson City. He loves a long drive and so do I. He's lonely without Mom so I'm trying to spend more time with him. Steve and I would love it if he'd move up here with us but he's not ready to live with any of his kids! I can't blame him. I wouldn't want to live with any of mine either.

Happy Hooking everybody!!!
