Spring Granny Square Swap

That's what I had posted on the last swap thread that I intended to do. But I now realize that the swaps aren't strictly seasonal. It doesn't matter though. An afghan with four areas of different color groups will still be very interesting.

When Mom was first diagnosed, I made her a prayer shawl. It was her 'rainbow' for after her 'storm' was over.
It was the BRIGHTEST yarn I could find. I bet this would make some wild granny squares.

That's Ella (the tortie) and Ratatat (the grey & white) hoping that the new blanket spread out on the carpet was for them.

I want to do a really bright color swap.

I'd participate in bright colors. I have some nice red.

Well I had signed up to host the next swap but if you don't like my color choices you can volunteer to do the one after that and choose some super bright colors for that one. I would definitely be up for that!

I'm pretty sure I have decided to go with a jewel color scheme and I love the idea of choosing the colors and brand of yarn ahead of time so that it's easier for everyone to get their yarn without worries about it matching. I thought it very cool that just as Kim and I were PMing this idea back and forth to each other, Rancher also suggested it! Jewel colors would be sapphire, ruby red, emerald green... not sure exactly what colors would go in the mix. I would need to look at colors and brands to pick them out for sure and some of this will depend on what brand has the best choices.

I'm hoping I can stick to one brand since I'm trying to simplify things for the next go round. I thought I'd give us a little break in between swaps since I know a lot of folks had talked about wanting to work on crochet that was not granny square oriented and I also have a couple of other projects I'd like to get out of the way in between.

I am very close to being done with the current squares. A few more days should do it but then of course I need to tag and bag them. Hope to get them out right on time!

KreativeKat your squares arrived today. They're so pretty. I hope everyone is winding down as the end is almost in sight. I've received three shipments so far.

Thank you, Betty. I had a lot of fun making these. I really enjoyed this pattern. Currently working on another SWAP that is red, white and blue squares. The pattern I have has a burst in the middle in red... then a couple rows of white... a couple rows of blue and I have bordered them with a red, white, blue variegated yarn. Waiting on some squares to come from a completed SWAP that was black, white and grey squares... cannot wait to get them and make an afghan for my son.

Very nice!!!! I love the bright cheerful colors!

Wow Smitty - this is my first square swap but if they've all had seasonal themes, I bet you could make a REALLY beautiful 'Seasonal' blanket that goes from winter colors through spring.

I'm not sure all the swaps have been seasonal. I think one was a scrap yarn swap. Oooooo I got some wild ones from that swap. I'll have to dig them all up, spread them out and see what I have. I think I could make a nice BYC hodgepodge afghan.
