I've been observing my 4 week old chicks for a while now to spot any suspicious ones. I've noticed one of them, Millie, feathering slower than the others and growing tail feathers unlike the others. Plus the comb is a bit suspicious. Her feather growth is faster than my last cochin cockerel. Could Millie be a Noah? Or is it still too early to tell?

Its to young to say with 100% certainty. But slower feathering is common in Cochin cockerels. And it does have quite a bit of comb for a 4 week old. I'm leaning towards cockerel myself.

I'm hoping she just happens to be an odd lady but the signs are there. I've been comparing "her" feather growth with my last cochin roo and she's faster. But, that could just mean she's a faster feathering cockerel.

In cochins combs pinking up by 5 weeks and slower feathering generally mean rooster. Give it a week, if that comb starts turning red than more than likely a rooster.
