Starlight’s Training Adventure!

Oh yeah, so annoying when rain cancels your activities. Remember once we thought we could beat the rain for a riding lesson, but me, my sister, and two other ladies we ride with ended up getting stuck under some stalls in a downpour!

Though it was kind of funny how my one friend was like, 'yay, it stopped raining!' when it did eventually let up, then it began to pour again. :lau

Thankfully the horse's stall we ran for cover in (when the wind began to blow it on us) did not care we were there. :gig

:lau Yep, I never like it when rain cancels stuff! 2 weeks ago my soccer championship was canceled because of rain. I was not happy! :rantBut I’m not going to start on that. Lol

Yay! :ya First off I want to say thank you so much sarah! I took star down the hill this evening and everything went great! We walked down the hill calmly and I let her nibble grass. Then as soon as we got down the hill I started having her rotate her hindquarter and back up. I could tell she was a little confused by that! :gig (because she is used to getting to eat grass when she gets down the hill) Then when we were back up the hill I just let her relax. Then we went back to the barn and I put her in the pasture.

Now I realize why star kept wanting to get down the hill so fast! Because before, as soon as she got down the hill she would get to eat grass, and then get turned out into the pasture. So really, without meaning to, I was rewarding her for running down the hill! But now star is starting to understand that the hill is the place that she gets to eat grass! Thanks everybody for helping me! I will keep working on the hill! :thumbsup

Can't wait to hear how she does the next time you update us!

The farrier came today! Overall the ponies did pretty good! Star was a little squirmy, but she did way better than last time! Star has a tiny bit of thrush on her front hooves by the white line that I will start treating, but the farrier said that it is nothing to worry about. Just making sure that it doesn't become something to worry about. Other than that everything went pretty well. :thumbsup

So glad she was good on the hill!

Uh oh, I hope the thrush clears up quickly!
Don’t worry, the thrush isn’t very bad at all. And I just treated her with thrush buster.

The red arrow is pointing to the thrush.

Star did great with the hill again today! She has not run down the hill at all since I started using sarah’s advice! Today we went up and down the hill twice, each time I would work her once we got to the bottom. Just wanted to say thanks again, and that I am starting to see where I can use this in other things with her! :D
