I definitely will start working on yielding her hindquarters, and loading in the trailer. She does have some experience loading in the trailer but haven't done it all winter. I don't intend on riding her until she is at least 3 years old. I would like to work on lunging with her but don't have a round pen... can you still lunge without one? Thanks for all of the training ideas! :)
I lunge my horse in the arena. I think he prefers it. It has helped me with desensitizing him to new arenas and new spaces with scary things. Trailering... etc.

Thanks! Wait till you see their Easter outfits! :D
How many horses, how old and how long have you had? And how old are you? You sound very knowledgeable. I'd stay relaxed and know you have plenty time. No need to rush if she is 1-2. I like how you handle her with tying, brushing, braiding, picking up her feet, blankets... She will have great patience and be a calm pony and developing that trust with her so young is awesome! More photos please!!

I have a gypsy vanner x foxtrotter pony named Sugar. The people we bought her from said that her mom abandoned her soon as Sugar was weaned. She was expected to end up 15 hands but she is around 13.3 hands and she is five years old. I got her when she was 3 years old and she has come a long way since then.

I also have a rescue miniature horse named Snow White. Looking at her teeth my guess that she is 11 years old but I am no professional so :idunno. She is the sweetest thing but when I first got her she was scared of everything, wheelbarrows, fly spray, bathed, etc. Just like Sugar, Snow has come a long way since then. :)

And you know about Star. She is supposed to end up being a least 16 hands. She is actually going to be just a year old in April so I don’t feel rushed at all in her training. Everything I do with her is relaxed and I try to keep work fun for her. :)

Star got a good grooming today! She is really improving on standing still in the cross ties and letting me hold her hooves for a decent amount of time!

In the last pic you can see all of the fur that she is shedding!

(Please excuse her muddy face in the last pic. It is a pic that I took before her grooming to show how dirty she was.)
