Starlight’s Training Adventure!

Pics
Oh yeah!

Yesterday I was going out and was cold so I grabbed the nearest jacket--the one I haven't washed that I wore while grooming at last week's lesson. It kinda had hair all over it and I thought, well, I don't care if I smell like a horse! :gig

:gig I have a jacket that I always wear when I go out to the horses... and I put it on when I went to soccer practice. Who cares if I smell like horse! Wouldn't want to smell like anything else!

Oh! Wow! Your horses are beautiful! What are their names? And thanks for all of the training tips, I have started working on yielding Star's hindquarters and will work on trailer loading very soon! Never have trained a yearling before and love all of the info I can get! I know the basics are very important and I am working on her manners, and building Star's confidence around "scary" objects and places. Again, your horses are gorgeous and thanks so much!

I’d add spray bottle to the list, otherwise it sounds like a good start.
I made sure my horse was good with plastic bags all around her since I would apple pick when I went riding lol
Probably the scariest thing for her was those elect-so-and-so signs being battered by wind.

Spray bottle add! We had our first 80 degree day today and saw the first flies of summer, so wanted to make sure Star doesn’t mind getting fly sprayed. She didn’t mind getting sprayed one bit! :celebrate (I used water in the spray bottle this time because I didn’t want to cover her in fly spray when there aren’t a lot of flies out yet)

First flies?? Lucky!! We're already getting 80 degree weather here, (I'm in Florida--yuck! Hot weather year round) and have plenty of flies.

Sounds like Star is doing a great job about desensitizing. :D

Hahahahaha :gigNot lucky! I would happily trade below freezing temperatures for warm weather and flies! Star is doing really well and has calmed down a lot. :)
