Your not stepping on my toes at all! I love getting new ideas of things to work on and do with star! I really want her to be a well mannered and well rounded horse! And I completely agree with the idea of working on things from the ground. What I want to do is get star ready for being ridden, so if she has already done the stuff from the ground that I am asking her to do while I am riding then things will probably go much more smoothly.
That sounds like a great plan! If I got my own horse I'd certainly want to do the same.
Sounds like Star is gonna be one great horse! One of Vinny's, who I work with the trail stuff with, problems is he just won't stop backing up or moving around when I try to position his butt so I can open the gate. Even though I'm not even leasing him I want to see if I can't work on that with him when I practice it...Tee hee.
Really, it's amazing how smart horses are! I only ride once a week, and I don't even ride Vinny every week. (And I'm the only one riding him, really) Yet in the few weeks I've practiced it, he's gotten much better at yielding his hind end. He used to be so stiff and unwilling to turn to the right, but now both sides are much more even. I've noticed that he also won't move his front feet as much, either. Mostly stationary, yay!

Great job! And yes, I hope Star does well for me tomorrow! I will let you guys know how it goes!
So I have to put it off until tomorrow or maybe this evening if the hill is dry enough by then - sorry!
