I made spaghetti and everyone has a full belly and are just laying around. I'm reading my Bible.

Kathy is reading the Bible and eating spaghetti? Well, it is Sunday. I am watching Food TV and planning fish tacos for dinner. It is about time our cold weather started moving over your way!

We disconnected the drip water system and put 11 gallon waterers in the runs. From the way the chickens guzzled, I think the drip system has stayed frozen most days. The good news it that the coops are still clean and ry. It wall take a big rainstorm to know for sure if the tarps are going to be enough but I have hope.

I am less than a day away from maybe getting some help with my dental issues. Mahonri, when you share your schedule with us and seems unenthused about how booked you are, I can tell you from experience there are a lot of grateful people that you could work them in. I view my appointment tomorrow as a lifeline in the middle of the ocean.

Patience is a virtue. After 48 weeks, my barnevelder pullet finally gave me an egg. Freeloader no more!

This is the coldest I have ever experienced without snow. Two inches of ice in the stock pond, everything else frozen solid except for the auto-waterer in the coop. It has only half an inch of ice in it...

My hands were so cold from breaking up and removing the ice from the stock pond I wasn't able to hold the cup of coffee I made to warm 'em up. I had to sit on my hands for quite a while, first. The flock is very happy I cleaned out and refilled the two kiddie pools. Kate the goose warned everybody away from the first ready one so she could drink and then bathe in it.

Everybody is finding sunny spots just to hold out their wings to warm themselves. Gorgeous day when one is just looking out of the windows!

Linda, that doesn't even work for me. No working heater in the downstairs. Beware the perils of buying a 120 year old house! I am going to be all over that home warranty company until they fix it, just as soon as I get my dental mess under control. For now, Michael has taken over the task. Repairman number six is coming out tomorrow!
