Cooper What a shame. Too bad you can't string electrified wire across the top - I think that would change his mind and he deserves it.
I am going to reinforce the line today. I may try and attach little leg and neck traps. All I need is for him to get caught or trapped for a few moments.
tomorrow I am going to try the barbed wire idea. if he gets through that then he deserves the meal.
I will be up there with them out of view most of the day in the rain .

How frustrating is that. I had several fox coming daily to my coop most of the summer in broad daylight. I'm just not that good a shot to hit him from the house, though we tried several times. We now have a new fence that slowed them down, but I bet they'll be back when the corn comes up newt year. I hope my new LGD will be old enough to take care of things by then.

I hope you don't have to kill him, but if you can avoid trapping him. setting up a barrier he knows is there would be more effective.

Well, I've got my chicks out of the house (DW's orders) and into my Laree brooder outside. They seem to be doing fine... I went to Mesa yesterday on an errand and it was close to the Feed Barn there and I thought, I'll bet they have Purina Start and Grow there, and what do ya know, they did. Along with chicks, so I bought 6 to replace the ones that died....that will give me a better chance at having a 50/50 mix of males to females. I got a White Leghorn, 2 RIR, a Black Star a Buff Orpington and a Delaware.

just bought a kennel and stucco wire to give my chickens refuge for now. Until I can figure it out.

Jason,

Unfortunately, the hawk knows that it found food there multiple times and will keep returning. I hope you can find a way to prevent it from getting to the rest of the flock.
