It is driving me insane! She has a perfectly clean litter box but she chooses to go on the couch, in the clothes basket, and even in the recycling bin. I will have to get rid of her if she keeps this up. Any suggestions??

*ETA she is fixed*

Sorry, That is very annoying. I'm having a similar issue right now. And the culprit is going into the vet Monday afternoon. She's about 10 and I'm thinking some sort of UTI. She's also acting weird so maybe some age related problem. Hope you figure out why and can fix her.

I have the same problem with a neutered male I have, I call him my dirty cat. I've even had him checked by the vet, he on the other hand like's to go on the dog bed's..I think it's cause he doesn't like one of my dogs. I've had to throw the dog beds away, and now they just get blankets I throw on the ground for them..at least I can wash these. Could your cat be mad at you? I could be wrong but sometimes I think they hold grudges. My suggestion would be to have a vet take a look could be some underlying medical problem such as urinary tract infection or something else. Good Luck

I agree about getting her checked for a urinary tract infection. If you can collect a sample to take to the vet that would be helpful. Or they can try to get a sample there. Most times it requires dropping your cat off until she either goes or her bladder gets full enough for them to collect it another way.
If its a behavior problem, sometimes putting them on Valium for a short while can help.

i agree also with the uti check. i've had cats for 22 years and we have 3 males who pee on the counters!!!!!!!!!!!!! one cat will pee on anything on the floor. all fixed just brats. in my 22 years, we never had this problem. my mom and i get soo annoyed cuz dad won't clean it up. he just leaves it, but complains...???? they will also pee on the floor if they want out

my male de-sexed cat went through a nasty stage where he peed on everything.... i love my cat.. but i wanted to strangle him!!!!! (he is indoor only).. this went on for weeks....

It started after I got home from a 3 week holiday... combination of separation anxiety and a UTI was the end diagnosis.... (well, we narrowed it down and the UTI feed did make a difference)

get her to the vet.. but in the mean time, if you can, lock her in a room with her kitty litter and very little else... she needs to understand her behaviour is unnacceptable...

i feel for you.... it's very frustrating!

I had a cat do this while I was on vacation. She continued to do it once I was home.Even sat there in front of me and ripped her fur out. She completely ruined an entire house by spraying all walls, carpet, heating vents. Drugs, restrictions, and tons of loving did not stop it.Sadly she was euthanised as noone wanted her.

It took me years before I would get more cats.Got 3.New house. One or more started peeing on the carpet.Do not know which. All vet checked.Had to move them to a side room off the garage.Atleast this time I did not have to put them down. It is still upsetting to deal with.

It is hard to get it to stop.Vet check, meds, new litter, new food, restrict to a room, lots of loving. After that I don't know.I had a neighbor once whose cats peed up her home. She started letting them outside. The peeing inside stopped, but her cats started peeing around MY foundation. I had very stinky summers thanks to those cats. I would recommend a cat run/enclosure instead of just straight outdoor time.

I have read that toileting issues is the most common reason cat owners get rid of their cats.

I love my cats, but I will never let them(or any pet) pee up a house again.Dogs are now outside dogs too since they seem to think they can drop a load when the urge arises.I got tired of hearing,' Mom theres a wet spot! Mom the dog pooped on the couch! Mom I think that's puke!."

Best wishes getting it to stop.Don't forget enzymes and a black light to clean up.
