I've been thinking about Mrs. White all day...

My sisters ex's new wife has a little teeny pompom of a Bichon Frise...he got it for her because she wanted another baby...guess where this is going?
It's bitten the kids, charged at the mailman, needs to be locked up in the house...My sister was asked to house sit while they went away and she said No because of that mean little bugger. It came at me and I was like No Way...the new wife was holding it on a loose leash and told me I could walk by and I was like NOPE Put it away first..
.
Some owners just don't have it in them, to constantly remain the "alpha" leader.

That dog's got a problem because he doesn't know where his place is. He thinks he's alpha dog and she's treating him that way...As for my sister and me...we'd kick him for a field goal.

That herding and nipping is the herding in him...that's how you'd get the sheep to move.

It would do better to kick the owner for a field goal and spend a few days teaching the dog his place. It is not the dogs fault.

I know, but I dont have sheep. I am working/training this behavior out of him. There is a time and a place for that

This is the worst thing. Some people should NOT be allowed to own dogs! These people are clearly some of those people!

Mmmm.... sounds like you have a dumb neighbor.she needs to take responsibility of her dog.but don't shoot the dog...pepper spray works and the dog WILL remember.i live in cowpens, not too far from you.good luck!

sorry to hear about Mrs. White. I hate to see bullys get a worse reputation than they already have. i wonder what provoked the dog in the first place, SST or pit bulls whichever you wanna call em weren't bred to be aggressive to humans.

We have a pit, shes a sweetheart, shes never been aggressive toward anyone and gets along with out cats and even got under the fence into the chicken run the other week, she didnt bother the chickens, just wanted to hang out with em I guess.

she has gone after a cat in our yard, the previous owner of the property had like 30 stray cats living outside and 2 or 3 still hang around but most of them were run off by my cats, the one the dog went after was one of the strays a main coon, real sweet cat but our dog spotted it and decided to go have a look, well the cat decided to run and the dog took off after it, caught it in her jaws and shook it up a bit but didn't actually hurt the cat. now they almost get along, the cat keeps her distance just in case but the dog doesn't really bother with her anymore. She will go after other ones in the yard though, just protecting her territory

we have an acre, fully fenced and she stays within our fence.
if your going to have a dog no matter what breed, it's your responsibility to maintain control of that dog so stuff like this doesnt happen. I'm glad that neighbor got arrested too. just like guns, theres alot of idiots that shouldnt own them but they do

I guess it all boils down to personality and aggression depends on the individual dog

so sorry to hear your trouble! BUT REMBER THE DOG IS ONLY AS SMART AS THE OWNER!!!! it has nothing to do with the breed!

I OWN A PIT WHO IS THE BIGGEST WOOSE ON EARTH! Yeah Yeah Yeah, I know everyone says that!

:: sigh :: This thread is heading downwards real fast and will soon be locked I fear. A real shame as I am wanting to know what the end result of this whole nightmare will be. I hope they hold them responsible, though I wonder if the laws will protect the guilty instead of the innocent.

Mrs. White is a bit better but, is in very serious condition. When I visited this morning the hospital were not allowing visitors. I talked with her granddaughter and she said they had to treat her immediate injuries but, her bones shattered because she has osteoarthritis. and are going to have some specialists working with her over the next couple of weeks to see what can be done about her bones. The main concern is her being the age she is and having other health problems that pre-existed and may be too fragile to go through physical therapy even if her joints and bones are able to be repaired. She may not walk again.

Animal control came out this morning and picked up the puppies as there is a temporary ruling that they cannot own a dog. They were also cited with not having a proper care facility for them. (falls under animal abuse). The large dog was put down yesterday because of the attack and acting vicious towards animal control and was deemed (not salvageable-non adoptable). The fence as I saw closer today was a large piece of field fence with a pallet for a door and a barrel cut in half for shelter.

The guy on the other side with the chicken killer is taking his dog to Florida to stay with his sister whom has more space for it after he found out what happened.
So maybe that story will end well.

Someone asked if I was going to move. I already did two years ago. This house is back to back with my parent's house and where I grew up. I moved back here from North Carolina to help my parents because they have medical problems. So I'm living in my childhood home. Yeah it kinda sucks for years we were surrounded by elderly women and my grandfather and grandmother across the street. A lot of these houses have become rental homes so no telling whom is going to move in next.

I'm not trying to be a breed hater, my own aunt owns one of these and it is a couch potato/lazy more than aggressive. I think though that owners have to pay extra special attention to large strong breeds because even if they bite by chance it does a lot of damage.

It comes down to knowing what you have (disposition) and knowing how to deal with it. Many times it is just as dangerous to treat dogs as babies as it is to abuse them. I'm sure if I had either and raised them I could keep them under control. I had dogs for many years and have taken a break for a while after my last died of old age.
