Yes, I've been to your site Beautiful birds! There is supposedly someone in the USA with black Sultans, but I have no idea who it is??

He looks very much like a Sultan, but I just don't see the vulture hocks? And it seems he's a little short in the legs? Maybe it's just the way he's squatting...? But yes, he's gotta be a Sultan! Otherwise looks just like one.

Wait, if his legs are that short, and no vulture hocks, I'd say he's a white Houdan! They also have 5 toes Except they're not booted.. at least I don't think any are??

Haha, your guess is as good as mine, and I think he was squatting a little bit, in fact I think he pooped right after this picture. HAHAHA Hes got five toes on one foot, and four on the other? So I dont have a clue!

That happens a lot with the toes. If he is longer in the leg, and if you see those vulture hocks, he's a Sultan, I'm sure Really looks like my chicks a week or two ago.

Ugh, it's cold in our house (low 60's/high 50's and my birds won't stand up! LOL But here goes:

Kind of a weird painting (not mine, off internet and used without permission) but can you see how the upper thigh has feathers that point down and out?

I don't know when the picture above was drawn, but I do believe Sultans should have longer wings than shown, and the male seems to have a part in his crest, which wouldn't be desirable.

I poked and prodded, but she would not stand for me! LOL, too cold!

That is too funny! My birds have those days too when its just too cold to stand! But Ive got the point now! Thanks! And is it me, or do these sultan chickens seem like the get cold easily, and when they do get cold, they get very vocal about it? Atleast mine does!

Yah, I got a box of 12 and tuned off the light the night before. They didn't like that, LOL. But they're 5 weeks old and I want to put them outside! Gotta harden them off. I hope I wasn't too harsh. I turned it of one morning, then back on at night (so they slept all day and were up all night!) then the next day (yesterday) I turned the light off all day again, then didn't turn it back on last night. I really hope it's ok, but there are 12 of 'em so they shouldn't have trouble cuddling and getting warm. I saw some of them on their own sleeping yesterday, so I figured it wasn't that bad (house is in mid 60's)

They are definitely less active now, but kind of seems like they're picking up a bit again??

I put my Sultan outside with the big girs when it was JUST getting it feather. And it does just fine, it just like to cuddle alot. And do you have problems with your sultans getting pastey butt? Seems like the one I have ALWAYS has poop on its butt! I have to wash him constantly, and the poor guy has no feathers on his rump, just skin! Wander what the deal is? I think your Sultan should be just fine if theyve got other to huddle up with.
