Thanks everyone.

I was also thinking about the snow flakes if a person were to do a lot of them, paint the wall blue and use them as "wall paper" over the blue it would be an awesome decorative wall treatment.
OK that's an idea that has endless possibilities. Too dusty where I live though. Walls need to be easy to clean.

Thanks for the pics Kassaundra. No pics of your snowflake?

Yep, except for one more that hasn't been mailed yet (needs postage), your's was the last. Plus the secret is out already since folks have been asking how to make them.

I'm sure the last participant won't mind you posting pics of what she has to look forward to.

I just heard that Sandy is gaining in strength right now! Usually the opposite happens as a storm moves north. The warmer temps you guys are getting right now is to blame for that. Usually you all are much colder than we are here but right now your lows are actually 10-15 degrees higher than ours are here. That will not help weaken the storm! The storm surge expected for some areas could be devastating. :( We also are praying for the safety of loved ones. We have family in the NY area so are watching this storm pretty closely.
YEA!!! That is the last box that was mailed so you can all say the word snowflake now. lol Though I think I let it slip already anyway. They make great ornaments or light catchers in windows but the stiffener is water soluble so if they get wet they will soften up again. The good news is, if they get dirty they can just be washed, dried and restiffened. You can pin the flakes into different shapes to get a new look before stiffening. I had so much fun playing around with them.

Yes, the unseasonably warm temps are really strange for us. It was in the 30's last week and now 65 or so. I'll keep your family in NY on my prayer list. Its going to be nasty, hoping for the best for all concerned!

I love the snowflake. They look so pretty crocheted. I have some in my Christmas decorations that must be thirty or forty years old. I havent hung them in years. Maybe I'll get them out when I do the tree and wash them and restiffen them and then add some glitter. I think I made about a dozen of them. I have quite a few patterns of snowflakes also. I could add one on each of my packages to my family this year for them to remember me by.

I just got word from my daughter in NC that they came through the storm all right even though they're along the coast. She spent the storm at the Camp Lejune labor and delivery with a friend from college who gave birth during the storm. Mom and baby fine but my daughter didn't say whether it was a boy or girl.

I am saying prayers for all who are yet to get the full storm.

I got all my smaller squares joined into 12x12 squares, I ended up w/ 19 including the ones that were already 12 inches and the ugly ones I had crocheted and didn't send, so I need to crochet one more 12 incher, then I will have enough for a 4 x 5 afghan. With borders on each square that should make a big enough blanket for just the bed top, if not definately a lap blanket.

Kassandra, you are farther along than me. I haven't even started on my blocks.
I shouldn't have, I should have been securing and trimming tails on the fall blocks.

Here is a pic of the squares assembled. I still need to crochet one more square, and this isn't the real layout, still have a long way before I nail the real layout.
