Nope you don't have to do solid color blocks. I almost never do. Just pick what you like from the list. Most everything on the list goes well together especially if you break up some of the richer colors with nuetrals. I'm going to do a couple of examples to give folks an idea about the shapes and how they can go together. It will just have to wait til I get a little ahead of the moving and animal chores.

Thanks for the links Kate! That will be a help for folks that have never done them before. But even if you've made booties the concept is pretty much the same. The links will be great for folks that have never done anything related to a rectangle.

And of course you can donate only Alethea! Your squares are so beautiful I think we'd have to be nuts to say no to your beautiful crocheting!

Yes the strips are the 6" x 12". They can be a lot longer but for this swap I think this size will work the best.

On the way back from Kentucky, I made hubby stop at JoAnn's... I found 4 of the eight listed. Then, I made him go to the other JoAnn's and found two more. The Vanna's Choice Pearl Mist is at one of them but they were completely out. The Caron Simply Soft Lav Bluee is not available at either one. So, guess I will have to order that one either online or place an order at the store. Lovin' these colors though!

I found the Lav Blue at Wal Mart, and the Red Heart Shimmer Blue is the same as the blue listed for Caron I think it is? I couldn't find the Shamrock here though.

Thank you Kate! I will have to check out Wal-Mart. Not sure I would have thought of it as they have a very limited selection here and I typically only go to them if I am looking for cotton.
